Ironmaiden and Cricket-thank you so much
Hi girls,
I will be contacting Wide Horizons. I called my agency and they can confirm that big changes will be coming with the China program in '07. Right now we are grandfathered in just waiting referral so those requirements don't pertain to us now but would in the future for our second daughter.
I talked with my dh after I went to the link provided for the agency..thank you...and really liked what I saw. Very detailed and informative. I like my agency however we are definitely thinking Korea well we want to adopt our second from Korea we don't know if we would get approved and we had been thinking another agency for the second child but this new turn of events has more or less made that decision for us.
I cannot fly do to my anxiety so the baby being escorted here is a big thing for us well me. We think we will request a girl.
I am very excited about the prospect that having a second child can happen.
Thank you two so much. I felt horrible and I mean horrible. Since I heard those rumors and they basically got confirmed I was soooooooooo sad. I really wanted a second child and more importantly a sibling for my daughter and I thought that was gone but I have hope again.
Your both angels....................

That waiting for referral and waiting to travel is a time of anxiety and your always on edge. Our nextdoor neighbors adopted and they did so many home improvements and landscaping during that time - just out of nervous energy.

Any time. Actually, we're talking about adopting again. I'm not sure what will come of it, but we'll see!!!

OOpS! Me again. I did remember that the agency needed a form filled out by my doctor, but I think it just asked them to list medications and if I had a regular life expectancy. Again, if I remember correctly, it was a short form that maybe had to be filled out w/in a year of my last physical. Just a faint memory now--sorry that I can't give you more info!

Yes, your primary care physician has to fill out a form. Which means the number of physicals my DH has had within the past 10 years is 2 - one for each kid. And at the time I was seeing a therapist - I really needed someone to talk to after having 2 miscarriages and a second trimester loss - and she had to fill out a form as well.
Adoption agencies aren't looking for "perfect" people, just people who want to be good parents.

SheilaQ--I just read an article in today's Wall St Journal about tightening restrictions on Chinese adoptions. It mentioned that adoptive parents can't have a BMI (body mass index) over 40 and they are waiting for everything to be "spelled out" if these new requirements pass. Nothing is certain yet, but as far as meds, the article pointed out that if they restrict those that are on depression meds--that would be a large portion of women that are dealing with infertility.
Suprisingly, the article pointed out that those who have a BMI of 30 or more are unable to adopt from South Korea. I wonder how new that is, b/c I didn't remember that at all. Unless they automatically calculate it w/height and weight.
It was an interesting article--check it out.Mom to two crazy boys

There are two main adoption agencies in Korea. One had weight requirements, the other didn't. Wide Horizons for Children uses the one that doesn't. I don't know if any of this has changed, since weight isn't a household issue and DD has been home for almost 4 years now.

Hi,
Ugh now that everything has been confirmed about China we will not be able to go back again. It looks as though unless we ttc again that our daughter will be an only. But I thank God he is letting me be her mother. I have had dreams of adopting for years and when I got married it was China and I could never shake the feeling I had a chinese daughter I just have to get her
