Ugh...I can't Believe it

That's pretty much how I feel right now. Patrick had tubes put in his ears in May. The anesthesia people that they used weren't in our insurance, and there was a $310 deductible from our insurance. Anyway, the anesthesia was $800 for the procedure. Our insurance company reimbursed us $490 in May, and we were going to pay the $800 in September when I went back to work because we needed the $490 for bills in May because I had been out of work since February (on unpaid maternity leave).
So, fast forward to two months ago when we got a bill from the anesthesia people asking for their $800. Needless to say, I had forgotten all about the whole thing and called insurance who said they had paid. Anyway, I've been getting the bills in the mail and going back and forth between insurance and the anesthesia people, until today when finally one of the anesthesia people said that they had called insurance who said they paid us on June 24th. Finally, a date I could work with. So, I went back into my records and found the deposit for $490 and it all came flooding back.
So, how do I start my New Year? By writing a check for $800 (which, quite frankly, I don't have) and calling the anesthesia people and apologizing. Ouch on both counts.

I hope Patrick is doing much better now that he has had tubes. On the other note, I am sorry you are having to come up with $800 for the medical bill. I feel your pain. DH went in for a yearly check-up that are normally free, but because his insurance provider switched hospitals, we are now having to come up with $600 to pay his part. OUCH!! I think every hospital, clinic, and doctor should accept any and all insurance. JMO.

Yes, the up-side is definitely that Patrick no longer has ear infections. Trust me, I haven't forgotten that.
