Smile The mall fight is over ...

    We won!!!!

We spent money and alot of time to defeat a mall proposed for our across the street neighbor's backyard. 60 stores to scream to my kids "BUY BUY BUY" in walking distance. How old would my kids be before they started begging to walk there with their friends?? We don't know what the plan currently is, but we've been told it wont be a mall and it wont be big box stores. So it's not totally over, but I can probably live with whatever else is suggested. The mall developers made a deal with another development group who will come up with a new idea.

So not having to move to get away from the traffic and influence on my kids as their hangout when they are older is huge for our financial state. I did calculate how much it would cost us to make a lateral move and with interest rates up 2% from our historic low refinance, moving costs, fixing up a new place to our liking, paying a real estate broker, restarting a mortgage ... it was alot of money!!!

It was a huge stress in our lives for 2 years. The time it took, the stress on everyone's marriages and kids. My son heard the news and yelled "WE DON'T HAVE TO MOVE!!!!!!"

Congratulations! I was just thinking about this the other day, since I saw something in the paper for the Burlington Mall.
