That's it! I'm shopping somewhere else.
Walmart is really ruining America. I just heard they are cutting their fabric departments in 80% of their stores (or something like that. here's the link) It just seems they want to keep up with Target and Kmart since they closed down their fabrics.
So I decided instead of driving 5 miles to the evil Super Walmart on Saturday I will drive 1 mile to Country Mart and get a frequent shopper card. From what I understand even with their prices being a bit higher, with the card I will get discounts on a lot of things I buy. So it's possible I will save even more money then I do at Walmart.
This is just so weird for me since I have shopped at Walmart for the last 7 years. I think Dh is going to think I'm insane.

Good for you! I don't like Wal-Mart but I keep shopping there because I can walk there in 20 minutes and it's cheap. Hm.

I don't blame you. I try not to go to walmart very often. If I do go I go to the one that is in the next town because it is a smaller one. The one in the city I live in is a new one. It has only been there for maybe two years and it is suppose to be one of the biggest ever built. I hate it. You better hope you don't forget something and get to the other side of the store because it feels like a half a mile to go back and get it. It also seems like the people are more rude at the bigger one than the smaller one to.

Welcome to my world.
I go out of my way to avoid shopping at Walmart.
There are a few times where I do have to go there, just because what I want/need isn't sold anywhere else other than online (and I'm curbing my online shopping too). But on the whole, I go there maybe once a month or less.

Never been fond of Wal-mart myself, my father used to say,"When you see falling prices in one area of the store look for rising prices in another area or on another product."He was so right.( However in his final days dealing with cancer and the dementia related to his illness I had to be very careful. He would take a red magic marker and post "Rising Prices" on the paper flyers under products that were indeed higher!)

I don't like Walmart either-or ASDA which is the megamarket that Walmart owns in England. I do go every once in a while, but the crowds and the layout gives me too much of a headache most times.

I don't typically shop at Walmart Supercenters, but I was a frequent shopper at Walmart Neighborhood Market. Lately, however, I've been shopping at regular grocery stores. Just by watching ads, I'm still saving tons of money.
That really doesn't surprise me, though, about them closing the fabric department and expanding crafts and home dec. Home dec is big business with all the shows on TV and everyone now thinking they're a decorator. Crafts are big these days, too. Sewing, not so much. It's probably a wise business decision on their part.

I was in London for Christmas, and ASDA was the only supermarket near my sister's house. That store was insanely packed with people! However, the nice thing about ASDA, as opposed to American Walmart stores, they actually had all their cash registers opened and manned! Here, they have something like 30 registers, but only about 6 will be open at a time.

I DETEST Walmart and refuse to go there. I have worked it into my budget to shop at more local mom & pop stores and support the local business owners. Walmart sucks you in and then increases their prices.

I agree, walmart is VERY sneaky about raising prices! You have to watch from one week to the next, prices will be .25-.50 higher.
That's one reason that I'm really cutting back on the amount of shopping I do there. I'm giving my business to other grocery stores (Super Target being one, their prices are actually better on several things I buy).

Unfortunatly I only have three choices and walmart is one of them. And it is most always cheaper than my other two choices. Example: walmart flour .96 the other two stores 1.29. When you buy three or four bgs of flour a month thats a lot of savings. I dont enjoy going to walmart but my wallet cant afford for me not to. I spend only 188$ for an enitre months worth of stuff that would have been 300 at any other store I have. None my stores double coupons and we dont havea n aldis. We have a save a lot wich is suppose to be liek aldis but the prices therie are only good when its a sale.
