Tips You're Pretty Sure You Thought Up Yourself
Let's see how creative we (think we) are. Post a tip that you are pretty sure is your original idea. Even if you find out later someone else came up with it, it's still neat to see what we "discovered" on our own!
Mine: I discovered those knitted dishrags that everyone has fit perfectly on the head of a Swiffer!!!

well, in a pinch one time when I had no plastic wrap for freezing hamburger patties, I rinsed off and cut up plastic bags from the grocery store into sheets, and used to wrap them ( ink side out). Used 2 layers and seemed to work well. So, now I do that more often instead of using tinfoil or plastic wrap. Too frugal maybe?

Hey, me too! I also put whole casseroles and banana breads in the plastic grocery bags, double bagged as well!

To keep sheet sets together after laundering, I roll and put the sheets and extra pillowcase in the other pillowcase (these are king size cases). My homemade "bed in a bag" is stowed in the laundry closet until it comes up in rotation.

I use the 'magic blue' mop head on my swiffer wetjet, but I didn't think that up myself. It works much better than the swiffer pads. Walmart also sells one in their own brand that fits on the regular swiffer. You can also refill the cleaning solution on the wetjet, the top comes off with a pair of plyers.
I've never thought up anything on my own, that's why I'm always cruising these boards, collecting tips

~Well, if you find a more frugal option to something, does it matter if somewhere, sometime, someone thought of it first? You still figured it out , right? Human thought isn't original because our experiences aren't original. I find that comforting. Or is that the point of starting this discussion in the first place?~

No, it's just to see how creative we are, and see what we've discovered. Columbus wasn't the first to discover North America, but that didn't make the find any less fantastic.
I just wanted to see how creative we are and what we have come up with, even if we found out later someone else came up with the same trick.

OOOH I like the bed in a bag idea - I do that now but not quite to the extent you do LOL (I keep all the bedsheets in one, pillow cases in another - wether they match or not and my guests dont care as long as the sheets are clean and the bed is warm!)

I use my hand lotion to lube the rollers on my overhead cupboard on my desk at work. Slides quick, easy and QUIET now
Oh and I use it to stop static on hair and clothes - 7.5 times outta 10 it does work!

Love the thread!!! I'm sure there's something more exciting I do. (LOL)At least I hope ther is! but spur of the moment.....
~I use tablecloths as my kitchen curtains. I only have one window in my kitchen and it's right over the sink so I only go valance-over-blinds-stlye as otherwise the bottom of the curttains always get splashed. Anyway, I love having a tablcloth on the table and search for them at yardsales, thriftstores, and on clearence racks. If I find them supercheap at the store I buy multiples. I put one on the table, and wrap one around itself on the curtain rod. I've learned multiple ways to wrap it for different stlyes. If I don't have duplicates of a certain tablecloth then I pull out a matiching solid for the curtain. (Generally when I get a stain on a tablecloth that becomes impossible to get out I can still relegate it to the kitchen curtain bin...unless it would make a more appropriate something else...say a pillow. There's no sewing involved and I've gotten plenty of compliments on my "curtains" in the past, especially at holiday time.

I've haven't known anyone who does this but heres mine..I buy 2-liter bottles of Diet Coke anywhere from .88 to a $1.00 and refill my 20oz bottle..it averages out to around .30 to .33 a refill for a little over 3 refills per 2-liter..compared to the vending machine at work it cost $1.50 for the same size..thats quite a bit of savings...
Another thing I do is when my tube of Mascara starts to get dry I just add a little water to the tube and I can make it last close to a year(It is recommended that you dispose of it after three months)...I've never had any kind of infection in my eyes from doing this and I have been doing this for a couple of years now...Wife to Keith
