Our biggest expense is going on holiday. I do feel guilty for spending so much on flights, but I tell myself that the rest of the year we don't really spend money on anything. I don't buy expensive (or many) clothes, we hardly ever go out (only special occasions like birthdays) and go for the stores own brands when it comes to food shopping. So, all in all I spend very little.
I hate that it's all about money nowadays. It can be so depressing.

DH and I ate out once this month. Spent 30.00 and I did not even really enjoy it. Way too many calories and the food was not that great. My goal is to only eat out 2 times per month max. We had been at least 4 times per month. What a waste.......Then I would complain that leftovers at home were tossed in the trash or items became freezer burnt and had to be tossed out. I am slowly, slowly gaining control over the grocery budget and food spending. With gas prices so high, I would rather spent the $$ to travel and see the grand daughters!

Ok, so yes, I am going "out" tonite with my hubby. Boyswill be at AWANA (church) -and we will go "out". by "out" I mean that we will go to our local grocery store and get all you can eat (yummy) salad bar for 3.99 each. We will get water. So yes, it's 8.00, but it is only 8.00 for 2 people, and my body will love me for all the veggies that I will fit it tonite!

It has been only about a month since we have started getting really serious about saving our money. Now I think of all the money I have spent at restaurants in the past and just cringe. It is getting harder and harder for me to spend money. My attitude is really changing. I used to wait to get my pay cheque so I could buy stuff. Now I want to get it so I can pay down my debt. Today at work some people were chipping in to get take-out. It didn't bother me a bit to say no. I had brought a lunch with me. Before I would have felt deprived if I didn't get take-out too.

Whenever I buy fish or shrimp at the fishmarket (my father was a commercial fisherman, so there's the sentimental side too) I think it is expensive, but then I think how much it would cost us to go out to eat.

We used to drink wine by the bottle on weekends, but now we have a box in the fridge and pour ourselves a glass. The whole box costs what two glasses would cost in a restaurant.
