dental insurance vent
Sometimes I really wonder why we even have it. Had to take my son to the dentist last week because he had a tooth ache, he has been referred to an endodentist (sp) to have fillings done. There is not one of these doctors within 100 miles of us that is in our network, so I have to go out of network. I have not been able to find one that will file the insurance claim for us, so I have to pay the full cost, was told it will be around $1000...then I have to file the claim and wait and see what the insurance will giving me back. This is such a rotten time, we have to pay for my biopsy and my tooth being pulled too, and ofcourse my stuff will be put off for a while, cause well ya know how it is the kids come first. I have been looking at the numbers for the past hour and I just don't see how I can pay 2 dentists, and ENT and all the normal bills out of the next 2 paychecks.

Sorry.
Sometimes insurance really does seem like it's not doing anything, doesn't it? I hope that somehow a miracle will show itself in your budget, and you'll be able to pay for it all without a problem.

I don't know how you can swing it but don't put off your ent visit. You need this peace of mind and somehow need to find a way. Really. You waiting isn't saving any money.
How come he has to go to another dentist for fillings? My dentist does most fillings etc. but stays away & refers to others for wisdom teeth and major surgery.
Good luck & hang in there. This coming from someone who doesn't have dental insurance at all.~*Darlene*~

Honestly I have no idea why he has to go else where for this filling, we lived in NC prior to moving living in florida. We moved back here in June of 06, we have different insurance then we had when here before, and the doctors that we used to see aren't in our network. Maybe I should talk to dh about going out of network and getting a second opinion on my ds's tooth. None of us as needed fillings before, so really I don't even know what is normal when getting them done. I did call a few ENTs today, and the earliest appointment I could get with one of them is June 6th. So I either wait till then, or let the oral surgeon do the biopsy and my dh wants to have an ent dealing with the growth. I am fine waiting to go to the ENT, though I must admit now that I know it is there, I am checking it daily for any sign of change, and if I do notice a change I will go that day to the ER if I can't get in any place else. Right now it is small, after we learned it was there and my dh wanted to see it, it took him about 10 minutes to find it.....at this time it isn't causing me any pain or having an effect on my breathing or swallowing.
