nickel & diming all the way.....I cut back on cable today !!! (rhyming)
I have been hemming and hawing for a few months, and finally cut back to a lesser cable TV package. I am not as disciplined as some of you guys, but I was motivated to do something. Basically Comcast went up another $4 a month & that was the final straw. I have the "digital" plan which is nice, but not worth the $$. So I went down to "Full cable", and I still most of the channels I watch. There are a few I will miss. I also won't have the progamming grid, and will miss the ability to enter reminders for certain shows....sigh. Basically with the lower cable plan and those taxes and fees, will be about $15 less a month. So I unhooked it and I dropped the digital box & remote off today!
I also cancelled my newspaper delivery last month. Our local newspaper has a very good internet edition so figure will read it on-line. That was about $5 a month. So another $20 in my pocket in my each month. With the price of gas going up, I figure I will break even, but every little bit helps. If you all can do this, so can I!"The average pencil is seven inches long, with just a half-inch eraser - in case you thought optimism was dead." ~Robert Brault

Sorry for the typos/errors in my original message. I was on the phone with the credit card company to get my interest rate reduced as I was typing...all this frugal multi-tasking!!
I kept the high speed internet with the cable company. I was paying $106 a month for cable TV & internet....just outrageous."The average pencil is seven inches long, with just a half-inch eraser - in case you thought optimism was dead." ~Robert Brault

We have always had the cheapest cable possible. Just a few months ago I turned in the boxes and remotes. I wasn't even sure why we had them, they had become such a fixture that I had forgotten they were even there. It only saved us a couple bucks a month but it all adds up, I figure.
Good for you for downgrading. I am sure in time you won't even miss the extra channels.

I saved some on our cable and internet, too! I just called them and told them it was too expensive and to give me a deal. lol So they cut about $10 off per month! You don't know until you ask, I guess.
