Walmart Managers cringe when I walk in
I learned how to effictively shop "the correct way" from the daycare owner when my children attended after school daycare there. She had TONS of coupons all stretched out on the floor and in different piles. I laughed outloud and asked, "What the heck are you doing"???? She said, coupon clipping and getting ready to hit the stores tomorrow morning. Seemed like a lot of work. I took that idea home with me after hearing how much she saved.
Me being the "Mrs Unorganized of America" decided to give it a try and see just "HOW" much I could save. I purchased the clear sleeves from an office supply store (the kind where you can slip photos in) and placed then in a 1" binder. I then labeled each pocket with different categories: dairy, meat/poultry, canned items, beverages and etc. I knew it would take a couple of weeks to build up coupons so I just added them as I went along.
We receive about 2 grocery inserts a week and of course I get more from my co-workers in Dallas who graciously give me their store ads.
Let the games begin! I alphabatize the sale ads, whole punch the sides and then label the divider tabs so that when I'm at the checkout I can quickly go to that store ad.
The morning the ads come out (Wednesday) I begin my menu planning for that week, categorize my grocery list with the same categories as my coupons and treasure hunt away.
I only buy selected cuts of meat if they are "on sale".
Last week as I was leaving Walmart the manager pulled me over and began to check my receipt. He said that several of the checkers were saying how I save so much on select cuts of meat and he was right... "I AM". I socked it to Walmart and left with a smile.
I know alot of you already do this, but I just wanted to "high five" myself on what I've learned. It's TIME CONSUMING but worth it. This is why I don't let my family go with me because I'm 100% concentrating.
Have a GREAT Memorial Day weekend and be blessed!!

It is alot of hard work, but it is so worth the effort. I loved reading how you work Wal-Mart. You seem to have a game plan that is working for you! YEA!!!

Wait , I think I know what you are doing. You are taking your adds for other stores with you so that they will price match and then you use your coupons with those sale items.
This works great for items that are not buy1 get1. My favorit deals are b1g1 combined with coupons. I get most things at 70 to 90 percent off that way.
You can get 12pk of Dr.pepper at target right now for .75 cents. It on sale for 2.75 , use a 1.00 of target printable with a 1.00 off manufactor printable.

I don't have a binder for my coupons. But I do aree with you shop alone! That way I can do the math to figure which size is cheaper per ounce and all sorts of other calculations. I have saved a ton since I started shopping alone.

good for you

i also do coupons and love it. i agree with ann...can't get too much out of walmart here since they don't double. but since the only other grocery store that does double is horrible, i've had to break down and do a lot of shopping @ wallyworld. (dumb gas prices or i would drive myself 50miles to the nearest kroger!!) but in my mind-anything saved is worth it. i also do rite aid single check rebates. i haven't caught the hang of cvs extra care bucks tho.

None of the stores around here will accept computer printed coupons anymore. Too much fraud. Those of you who can use them are lucky.

I use a binder for my coupons. I don't often shop at Wal-Mart, but when I do, I use coupons there too. I use most of my coupons buying sale items at a double coupon store.
