Our little trip to Arizona
And when I say little, I mean little. We were there for less than 24 hours. We left at 5am Sunday morning, got there around noon, and left to go home at 4am monday morning. It was for a wedding, and I wanted to do this trip as frugally as possible, and I think we did.
Expenses:
Hotel Room: Paid $62 total about a month ago, got $40 back in cash from friends who shared it with us, so it only cost us $22.
Gas: Almost $80 in gas, a friend carpooled with us and paid for one fill-up.
Meals: Breakfast Sunday morning $8, Lunch at Texas Roadhouse (Yum!!!) friend paid for it but we paid the tip $6, Dinner at the wedding, breakfast at cracker barrel $25 (we paid for our friend and he got the tip this time). We picked up a few snacks on the road, mostly just drinks, less than $10
So the trip cost us a total of $150. We had $65 from our garage sale the day before which is what paid for our meals and snacks. I don't think we broke the bank at all this time!

What a perfect example of how a little planning means you can have a good time,and not break the bank!! Awesome!!

Sounds like a fun time! I like how you used the garage sale $$ for food money on the trip!

Wow thats some awesome planning! See what a lil bit of thought can do?
I do that all the time when I go to visit my gf in the next province over. I know when/where I will stop and how much a fill up will be. I pack drinks/snacks/samiches so I literally only get out to gas up, stretch and piddle and then hop back in the truck. (and yes Im the silly one limbering up, jogging on the spot and doing jumping jacks beside my vehicle or on my way in and out of the reststop
)
Shes like my sister so I just have to bring my own clothes when I go see her
same thing when she comes to see me. We both have things we can use toiletry item and food wise. Makes travelling to see each other so much easier.
Usually costs us $200/ visit - gas plus a few meals out on the town (regardless of who travels to whom)2012: The Year Of The Purge!
