**sigh** blew my food budget for the week.
I was totally CRAVING fresh fruit! Haven't had much in the past couple of weeks, because it's so expensive, and I'm on that $25 a week food budget. So tonight, I just couldn't take it anymore! I went and bought some! It was all on sale, of course, didn't get crazy, but then I had to have ice cream (on sale also...Blue Bell...yum!), then I had to have two cheap store brand ginger ales to make a float, then I had to buy some BOGO Uncle Ben's rice dishes. Anyway, I walked out spending $31.45. I'm ashamed, but you know, sometimes your body just has to have something! My doctor told me once that if you're craving something, it's because your body needs something in it. Hmmmm...makes sense to me. My body NEEEEEEEEEEEEDS fresh fruits and veggies!

Awww...don't beat yourself up over this..... fresh fruits & veggies are soooo good for you. Now if you bought bags of chips and Hostess cupcakes, you may have a reason to feel guilty! LOL!

This suspiciously sounds as if it was blown for a very good cause!
I wouldn't worry too much about it. Is there room in your food budget for fresh produce every week? So you get the vitamins you need and reduce the cravings? The Free Spirit Saver who walks the path with Greebo.

You may want to check local farmer's markets for produce, etc. It's usually cheaper than at the grocery store and there shouldn't be other temptations!

Fresh fruit and veggies are what everyone should be eating. Keep working to include a little of it in your budget. So long as it is not wasted, I would not feel the least bit guilty about it. your body needs the minerals and vitamins in it so eat and enjoy!
Now when I hit the store and end up buying candy bars, magazines and junk food...that is a reason to feel guilty! LOL

Hey, here in Canada we're told we're supposed to be eating at least 5 servings of fruit and vegies a day...that's roughly 5 cups of the stuff. That's for minimal health! I'd say sacrificing health for a sound budget is questionable at best. Readjust your budget to make room for a healthy diet.

fruit and veg
Here in the Netherlands, the government advises you to eat 2 pieces of fruit and 2 big spoonfuls of vegetables a day. I usually eat the cheapest fruit I can find, which during winter is apples and during summer is strawberries and raspberries from my own garden (about 2 cupfuls a day). You can use them in recipes as well - I looooove a fresh strawberry-banana-raspberry-milk(or yoghurt) smoothy.

I've run into the same problem. After a few weeks of it, I was just sluggish all the time and decided to make room in my budget for fresh fruits and veggies. Keeping yourself healthy isn't something you should feel guilty about.
