Frugality starts today for real. GULP
Yesterday was my last day at work. Since finding this forum earlier this year I've started to slip into a frugal lifestyle, little by little learning new things and ways to save money. But today it's for real. No more double income, yikes!
Now I have time to concentrate on being frugal without any excuses. No more disposable diapers for DS during the day, no more eating out (unless it's a special occasion) and I'm finally going to learn how to get most out of bulk buying and using coupons.
My first step today was to make oatmeal for all three of us instead of the daily pancake breakfast. Second thing I did was to list a bunch of baby stuff on Craigslist, the money made out of selling them goes directly to DS college savings fund. I turned the AC two degrees warmer and opted not driving a car today.
I thought I'd be in more of a shock. Maybe it hasn't sunk in yet but I feel like I'm not stressing out so much anymore despite DS big first birthday party this weekend. Anyway, thought I'd hare, wish me luck.

Good luck!
Being frugal is not necessarily being frantic or in a panic! It is being wise about the decisions you make, how you choose to spend your time and your money. For instance, you do not have to eat oatmeal if you do not like the stuff. You can have your pancakes, but choose to make them from scratch and not buy the ready-made mixes (or even the frozen whole pancakes - bake a few more and do your own freezing to have a quick snack or breakfast ready to grab).
Enjoy your baby's first birthday!

Good Luck Sara! Try not to go to radical frugal at first or you might burn yourself out. Pace yourself. See what works for you and what doesn't and don't beat yourself up if it doesn't work for you. Anywhoo,
at being a SAHM. Have fun and enjoy.

Good luck Sara! Don't worry...you're gonna do GREAT! You're off and running...that's usually the hardest part. Sounds like you have some super frugal plans already!

Best of luck to you! I quit working 8 years ago (although I do occasionally substitute teach still), and I haven't looked back. It's so much easier to live frugally when you're at home!

You've made a good start. You will learn more frugal ways as you hang out here.
Do you have a clothes line? Every nickel and dimes helps.
