So Excited! Had to share!

I got my cable bill in the mail yesterday and I actually get digital cable for $70 a month! I guess I usually just pay it with out thinking. But this week we barely watched tv and couldnt figure out why I am spending $18 a week to watch tv?! So I called cable company to cancel. I said I may be interested in getting digital cable back someday but do not need it this summer.

The customer service representative actually was very helpful. She said I can put my account on a vacation hold for 2,4 or 6 months. In that time you can get regular channels (here it is 1-99 regularly $52 a month) for $10 a month. Then after the 6 months your digital cable comes back on until you call again to put another hold on.

So I get to keep digital cable box and remote..even though it wont work..less hassle then returning and get regular cable for 6 months for $10 a month.

Amazing! I just had to share that calling companies to go over your bill or plans could save you money in the long run!

A few months ago I called phone company and did same thing. We realized I had long distance plan I was paying $14 for and not using. So I cancelled that and now make long distance calls from cell.

Yipee!! A good day!

Good for you. It feels good to trim all of those extra dollars that you are spending and don't even need to.

I agree with calling to see about lower rates. I lowered 2 bills this month and cancelled one service we have all by making a few calls. So it pays to make the call!

We thinking about lowering our cable to just the basic channels. We don't watch that much TV to need all those channels.

Great! We quit our cable when I quit working 8 years ago. We've rarely missed it. And the beauty of our current time is that anything we do miss (like great shows or movies on the sci-fi channel), we can just rent, borrow, or buy on DVD.

I think you'll find over time that you really aren't missing out on anything!
