    Default New Changes...scary

    Well guys.
After 4 years of squinching into a 600 ft sq apt family of 5 (3 kids-2 of which are special needs) We have moved into a town house. Of course the rent is higher but my DH picked up another consulting contract that covers the difference. I took money (NOT MY BASE emergency wolf at the door fund) but a huge (to me) amt and went to IKEA. and bought furniture for the kids and an actual bed for DH and me. NOT a mattress on a steel frame. Ya know I always thought if I had money to spend I would buy this and that yet there I was feeling sick sick sick buying things. It wasn't fun at all. We can absolutely afford it. We saved specifially for it. and I hated it...
How strange is that? I think I have been poor for so long that now that we are slowy with G-ds help inching out of the poverty hole I can't relax. Which I think is kinda good. It will keep from stupid spending but still....
You guys all of you have been such a huge support. I will NEVER leave this board. I don't care how much $ we have. I guess I have just learned to make do and enjoy (gasp dare I say it?) enjoy frugality. It has always been a game to me. Oh I have $20 for food for the week. How can I stretch it and have fun at the same time.. ACK my brain has been frugalified.. Which is cool until I am standing in IKEA and sweating. Gosh if I went to a dept store I would probably faint. As it was the next day I was back at the thrift and dollar store scouring the aisles for cheap shelving.
Anyway just passing on the good news.. It has been a very very long haul and we are not done yet..However if we can get to this point so can anyone else...
    Love ya'all

Great news that you are able to spread out some. Poor is a state of mind. Look around like we do and be grateful that you have what you have. Good luck in your new found space.

Good for you! Enjoy your new home and furniture! You waited and saved so don't rob yourself of the joy. But, I know how you feel, my DH is always trying to get me to SPEND money. Unless really needed, it makes me nervous too.

It's great that you're beginning to reap the rewards of the work you've done.

Enjoy the extra space and congratulations. You will feel better about it in time. I do the same thing when we spend money, but once you get used to all that extra room you have, the worries will dissapear. I'm so happy for you guys.
