    Default perks for donating blood

My teenage daughter and I donate on a regular basis, so it's not about the perks. But I do have to say that it is really nice to get a freebie for doing a good deed. Yesterday they gave each of us a ticket to both an IMAX and a regular movie. With my new emphasis on frugal living I'm going to keep an eye out for those nice things offered to donors and make a point of taking advantage of it.

I have never donated blood. I have been thinking about it though. I know I should. Someone might need it. And then again, I might need some one day.

That's great that they recognize your efforts! I can't give blood because of the different countries I've lived in

in Canada we get nothing for donating. They give us some food and occasionally a pin, and that's it.

We typically get blood donor t-shirts here for donating to United Blood Services (the only one here). I've always tried because mine is always in demand, but sometimes they won't take mine due to borderline anemia. I've gotten to where I schedule in a liver-and-onions meal at the cafeteria a day or two before donating.

I have a minor form of anemia, and they won't take my blood. I'd love to be able to donate though.

My sister donates blood and gets 50.00, or something close to that amount. She goes to a plasma center, where they take her plasma and replace the rest of her blood. It paid off her charge card and she did a good thing for others.
