Default Retail sales tax for energy efficient appliaces in Ontario

The government of Ontario is refunding or waiving sales tax on energy star rated appliances for the next year. I got a $70 refund on my new fridge!

If you are getting new appliances check it out - they will also haul away your old appliances for free!

Thank you!!! My dryer just died and I am going to buy a new one!!! Was checking prices out and noticed that the Energy Star were a bit more expensive but was going to get one anyway (hopefully for hydro savings down the road). This helps make the decision easier!

Watching pennies, there is a website "every Kilowatt Counts" that has info on how much each kilowatt hour reaks down to in dollars and sense. As well it discusses the usage of some new appliances. This may also help you in your decision making process. I used it for my selection.
