Default Is this being TOO frugal?

I buy my swiffer wet mop clothes from Dollar General ($3 a box). I turn them over and use them twice when I mop, but here's the thing I'm wondering about. My friend told me that if you wash them out, and just put them in a solution of equal parts non-sudsy ammonia, alcohol, and water, then store them in a ziploc, you can reuse them a couple of times. She puts hers in one of those lingerie bags and throws them into the wash. She also saves some just to put in clear water for the final mop.

I'm thinking this isn't too bad an idea. I've used old socks over my swiffer head before to dry the floor after I mop. She says you can also make the dry reusable heads by cutting flannel to size, and spraying with dusting spray.

    Does anyone else do this?

instead of buying the name brand swifer stuff i just used the baby wipes, i have them anyways. you get more than the 12, and they work great. sometimes i add a little bit of soapy water to the floor

    TOO FRUGAL???

    Not possible. Go for it!

I have a friend who uses old t-shirts and makes her own wet swiffers, then she washes them out and makes a new batch. I think she keeps enough for a few days at a time.

My only problem with the baby wipes is that they would leave some sticky residue from the moisturizer in them.

the baby wipes work really good for me i havent noticed any stickyness but it might be because i sprinkle some dish detergent and water on the floor first then wipe it up with the wipes. works on the tile really good and wipes are awesome for cleaning the dirt on the wooden floors too. everything else leaves my feet black still when i walk across but not if i use the babywipes

    = )
