Wow, I can see why he will be carrying a brown bag lunch from now on. That is a lot of money that you can now allocate to other areas in your budget.

I feel your pain...my dh spends about 135.00 a month, I know that is a lot less than your dh but it is still to much..

Yeppers, shocking isn't it? You know the guys that my hubby works with razz him all the time for bringing his lunch, and then they whine when they can't pay their bills. Thankfully hubster has no problem or embarassment from it, in fact he loves having home made lunches, heck he gets better than you can buy at least 3 days a week, bologna the others (and he LIKES bologna)

My husband takes everything. I bought him one of those big lunch boxes and even a big old water jug. Real handsome looking but hey he is saving a load of money. I make salads in lunch baggies and he adds the dressing. He loves those. I even pre baggie, chips, pretzels. and then I add the apples. He never complains. He even takes his coffee. What a cheaper way to go. But if I didnt do it all, I bet he would get lazy and buy out. Gotta keep my eyes on him.

I remember those nonfrugal days...I started making my Dh's lunch faithfully for a year or more now..He was spending around $110.00 a month and that includes stopping at the local convience store for a cup of coffee..It really does add up..I have the coffee pot set now on a timer so when he gets up for work its brewing hot for him and myself..I also make my own lunch..Boy when I think about how much money we are saving now from all these little changes and my biggest change..Quitting Smoking ...we are saving at least $4000.00 a year...

One thing I do to make "brown-bagging" more appealing is to take whatever leftovers I have...meatloaf, potatoes, lazagna, etc... and package it up for him to take. I think he enjoys having a hot meal so much more than a sandwich. He never eats out.

My ex actually overdrew our checking account once by spending $15 a day for lunch. I put a stop to that. Took away his card, and gave him a freakin' allowance of $50 a week. Most of that went on his cigarettes, so he started taking his lunch.

Wow, that is a lot for lunch out! Maybe have him limit eating out to once a week, and pack a lunch on the other days?

Yikes! At least you have found a large whole in the budget you can plug. Just think of how that can impact your bills when you apply it to debt or savings every month! After you've come to your senses, pat yourself on the back, most people don't even stop to add it up or even realize it is going out of the budget every month.

Yikes! Think how much you could save if he cut back a bit! Good luck on that!

Wow, you have discovered a huge leak in the budget. Isn't it funny how relatively small amounts can add up to really big amounts.
