    Default I've very excited!!

I am 3/4 way through Total Money Make Over book!!!! IT's VERY exciting!

I don't have dh on board with this, other than he wants to get rid of debt, but doesn't want to stop spending...figure that one out. BUT.

I do have control over MY bills. My totals in my SIGGIE, include both of ours. I'm at the point where I think I'll focus on mine, and start building my savings and retirement, because I'm frustrated with him..lol. The next 3 are mine, they are also the smallest. Then I'm going to see aobut my largest. I'd like to see them all gone, but it's such an uphill battle with him. I had almost paid off his line of credit, and then he started spending again.

BUT, I am STILL excited. I did some calculations, and it's all so do-able. ANd I do have control over my own money. So I can do this! And maybe when he see's my retirement funds in a year(since I'll be debt free other than mortgage), he might get on board. Lead by example. I can't force him.

I bet once your DH sees your retirement fund, he might ask for help. I like what you said, "Lead by example."

You are doing great managing your money.

I'm very excited! I finished the book. And I LOVE his approach to college. We're late getting on the ball here, but since we live in a college town, we'll cut expenses down drastically. It'll help. I can't wait to get to BS2 and BS3! It's coming!!!

Congrats on your decision to work the Baby Steps.

You will be amazed how easy it will get and how many financial blessings will come your way once you become good stewards of money.

    I'm right there with you!

Started earlier this year. Have my EF, mine is $2K which would cover a month of expenses.

Now working on the consumer debt. I sent a final check to Discover card on Tuesday! That one is GONE. I've paid 33.5% of my debt off this year alone and it's only August!

    Woot, woot!

    From $29K to $19K in 8 months, that's 10K gone forever.

You can do it. Hopefully your DH will come around. lead by example on this one.

Thanks ladies! Although I'm currently dealing with dh wanting to buy a new RV(used, but new to us). He foudn a 32 ft unit for cheap, but it has water damage and no appliances. He's thinking he can just take them out of the old unit and that's that. But the appliances I know are different sizes. If we take out of the old one, it's not saleable. People won't put money into one that old. If he leaves it alone it's worth approx $3500. But with out the appliances we're lucky if it's $1000. He's so frustrating. Just when things look up, he gets an itch to spend. Well, he can max out his credit. I'm not building our joint savings anymore. Not until he learns to pay cash. I told him, wait until next fall, I can have the money set aside for a decent trailer. But he's got the itch. GRRR..

Boogiemum, it's an easy read, started and finished today. Lots of meat to chew on. It's simple simple simple. But it means sacrifice to get out of the hole of debt.
