Default Are these good sale prices?

So in light of prices rising, I am unsure of what are rock bottom prices or loss leaders any more. I always think the prices should go lower and then months go by and they don't. I am trying to decide if I should stock up on a couple of items or not.

Campbells Select Soup is on sale for $1.25 this week. They had wonderful (being sarcastic here) coupons of $1 off 4 this past week which would bring the price to $1 a can. Dh likes to take soups if I don't have any leftovers. In the past i wouldn't have paid $1 per can, but now I am unsure. Do y'all think the prices will go lower in weeks to come? have y'all seen lower prices on the campbells soups in your area?

the other is cheese for $1.68 an 8oz block. I would never have paid that even a couple of months ago, but now? I am not sure. So, should I stock up or not?

THat sounds like a decent price on the soups to me. I believe that is what they usually go on sale for around here, though I do not buy them often. I think they are on sale for that price at Tops this week. I'm not sure what kind of cheese you bought, so I don't know what I usually pay for it. American slices I usually get 16oz for $2, sometimes less. Swiss cheese from the deli can usually be bought for 3.99 on sale along with mozzarella. It really does depend on the type though.

The soup is a good deal. If you think about it, there's two servings per can (of the Selects) and that makes it 50c per serving.

The cheese, it's iffy. Cheese went up so much lately! I'd buy it at $1.68. Not sure how much of it I would stock up though.

I did some cheese stocking up at about that price. I haven't seen what used to be norm, 1.25, for quite a while. After the post the other day from the person whose husband works for a dairy and said the price of milk won't fall for some time, it seemed like it might not be a bad idea to lay some in, especially since I have a hard time imagining a day without some sort of cheese! Cheese made with today's high priced milk is bound to be high. However, I don't know what the lag time is on milk to cheese. And I'm the first to admit this reasoning may be totally off base. Grocery shopping is becoming something of a roulette game.

Dh loves those soups for his lunch and I try to stock up when they are 1.25 or less but around here the normal price is 2.18 a can. AT 1.25 I would only buy enough for a few weeks but at 1.00 I would buy a lot more. The last time I stockpiled them it was .74 a can.

the price on that cheese isnt so great but I would buy a block or two to tide me over tell a better deal came/

LOL that's the same sale I was going to hit. It's a good price on those, they're usually $1.99-over $2 a can. I would jump on them. The cheese is a decent price, I would get a few of those as well. With the rising price of dairy, I would imagine the sale prices will start to look like the current regular prices.

Here the Campbell Selects normally run in the $2.00 a can range so I would say it was a good deal.

8oz blocks of cheese are going for $2.00-$2.75 here so at $1.68 it would be a good deal for me as well.

Yeah I had to laugh at the "2 servings" comment. My husband would eat the whole can, too.

Yep, I agree, good deal, especially with the coupons. I used to get the Winn Dixie 8 oz. block cheese for 3/$5, but the last time I bought it, it was $1.75. That's the only place I can find the medium cheddar in 8 oz. blocks. Sharp is too strong, and mild is too blah for me.

I get the sarcasm about the coupons. My favorite saying while I'm clipping or using coupons is "jeez, don't do me any favors."

My favorites are (sarcasm again) Kraft cheese , any cereals, and Campbell's soup. I USE these coupons, but sometimes feel they are a waste of paper, and my time.

OK, I bought 8 cans of the soup. I only had 2 coupons. I haven't hit the store for the cheese yet, that will be on Friday when it is payday. I am out of grocery money at the moment.

The only thing that usually helps with the Campbells coupons is that 1 of my stores doubles. makes it a tad better. And hey every little bit does help. I just prefer the $.75 off of 1, as that means it is $1.50 off for me, which combined with sales can result in free items. Thanks for the input!
