    Default My Walgreens brag

I'm still adding up my grocery numbers for the month so that I can update on the challenge thread (and my sig). I thought I'd go over, then I thought I squeak by, then I thought I shouldn't pass up good deals, then I decided I need to get water filters and gas for the mower out of my grocery budget which means I might not go over.

Anyway, in the middle of all that I decided that the Revlon Colorsilk deal (which died Tuesday night) was too good to pass up even if it did mean spending another $7.03 out of the August budget.

I started with a $10 RR in my purse, and ended with a $10 RR in my purse.
I will be getting a $4.38 rebate on my Walgreens GC.
I spent a total of $7.03 OOP (in 5 transactions).

    I got the following:
    10 boxes of hair dye
    2 gallons of milk
8 packages of string cheese, 6 ct
4 packages shredded cheese, 8 oz
    1 can pineapple, 20 oz
1 Walgreens brand comperable to Tylenol Jr Meltaways, 24 count
    1 Aquafresh toothbrush

In my mind I "spent" 2.65 (that's 7.03-4.38) on the medicine for my daughter and the rest was free. I just widh the Walgreens I went to had not been sold out of the napkins and dish soap I wanted. At least the string cheeses have a long expiration date. They are perfect for Daughter's lunches.

Wow, excellent work! I'm always in awe of the couponers here, I have never been able to figure the coupon thing out.

I bought a ton of their string and shredded cheese too! What a great deal. And I thought they had great free-after-rebate deals this month. I often get those even if we don't need them (like contact solution this month)...I like to ask around to friends and family to see if they could use it.

    Good job!

-nod- I try to be as careful spending my RR$ as I am spending my real $. The pineapple wasn't a good deal, though. I have gotten it for less. I was upset that my carefully constructed deals of things I needed like napkins and dish soap didn't work cause that store was sold out of napkins and dish soap. -pout- So I panicked and grabbed the pineapple. -shrug-

Ani, I just started this couponing thing in May. I have so much to learn. I happened to be in the right place at the right time for this deal. I'm in awe of the people that found out about it in time to do it tens and tens of times instead of my measly 5 times.

I got the cheese too. Not a ton though, our Walgreens only has three or four packages on the shelf at any one time...so I've been making multiple trips

The cheese sticks freeze quite well by the way.

I wanted to do that deal so badly!! But by the time I got out to do it, it was dead. Everyone I know of ended up with a zillion bozes of hair dye and hundreds of dollars worth of free stuff. I'm so jealous!

YankeeMom, you just recently got into Walgreens, yes? I thought of you when I posted this thread.

I know freezing changes the texture of cheese. Wouldn't it make string cheese not pull apart so nicely? Maybe it depends if you are after taste and nutrition, or looking for the fun experience of string cheese. I'm after both. They don't expire until 12/22/07. Eight packages of six sticks is only 48 little cheeses. If we go through 4 a week (I give her pudding on Fridays ), that's 12 weeks--the end of November. Then there's the fact everyone's looking for snacks in the fridge on weekends... Hey, maybe I should have gotten more!

Hmmm, I haven't even looked at this week's ad. I'd better hurry.

I am trying to figure out Walgreens. I no longer have a CVS near me, which I was trying to figure out before I moved, so thought I'd look into getting the deals at Walgreens I've heard about. I have been looking through the ad each week and see nothing all that great! Am I missing something? I see a few B1G1 free sales, but nothing just free. Those of you who shop there would you mind explaining what you do? Do you combine manufacturers coupons with their coupons? I didn't see any good rebates, or is that just hit or miss?

I simply have to get in on this Walgreen's thing. I used to work there, believe it or not (only a couple of months), and I just never got the card thing going.

Also, I need to get into the CVS card program too. I just don't shop at those places enough, I don't think, to make it worth my while, but I'll sure look into it.

Every month they have rebates where the items are free. They apprear in the first ad of each month on the first or last page. Mostly they are health and beauty products that are new. The good thing about Walgreens is you can combine their coupons with manuf. coupons so alot stuff ends up being really cheap. I can buy $30.00 of stuff and with coupons and rebates end up only paying $5.00 for all of it.
I don't buy alot of the B1G1F deals. I get alot of my deals from the coupons at the bottom of the ads and combine them with manuf. coupons.

excellent job!! i worked at walgreens for five years and although their ads arent packed with great deals from cover to cover, they do usually have a few great loss leaders and when you combine with manuf coupons/easier saver coupons.. the deals are unbeatable.
