    Default Corelle Dishes

I have a few pieces of Corelle that my MIL gave me. I really like them b/c

the are virtually unbreakable. So, yesterday while at Walmart I looked at

them. OMG, they are so expensive...who knew? For example, one dinner

plate was $4.38. A sixteen piece set was $50.00. Needless to say I did not

buy any. Instead I made a mental note to look for them at garage sales and

thrift stores. Low and behold, today I found plates(pretty too) for 10cents a

piece at a yard sale! Gotta love yard sales!!!!

Dh got me a new set of Corelle for Christmas, 8 place settings of the square ones. Even though they are expensive I know they will last longer than I need them to! I got 7 full sets, yes 7 sets of Corelle in 1972 when dh and I got married, I gave the rest of them to my sister about 10 years ago and she just passed them to her daughter. My mom and dad's friends all worked at Corning here in my hometown and I got tons of Corningware. Love the stuff!

I totally agree with you picking up pieces at garage sales, you can get some good buys! For me after about 25 years I wanted something new for everyday!

it's great you found some at a garage sale. i have some corelle that i got when we were first married and so far only one bowl has broken, but i was using it for a drip saucer under a pot. my grandparents still have their corelle that they have had since the 70's.

I bought my Corelle service for 8 at an estate sale, for about $20.00 I think (that was probably about 8 years ago). Still using it.

I've had my Corelle service for 8 for twenty years (used daily) and it still looks new.

I love the few pieces I own. I'm accident prone, so it's nice to have plates that are virtually unbreakable.

My grandma gave me 2 sets of white a few years ago for Christmas. Then I found 6 or 7 plates for about $3 at a thrift store recently. So I have a nice, big set, great for when we have company.

Sometimes right before Christmas Walmart will put the 4 place setting sets on sale for $20.

The corelle outlets have some good deals. I was just in one a couple of weeks ago. I bought a bowl to replace on that I broke. Yes, they do break. Mine fell on the tile floor in my kitchen and shattered into what seemed like a thousand little pieces.

I used my Spring Blossom Green dishes for 20+ years until I changed to another pattern. I, too, have found good prices at the outlet store.

I am planning to replace my dishes with Corelle. The dishes I have now are all chipped. I really like the square ones but I am worried that they are too trendy and they will look dated in a few years. Still deciding what I will get. I am taking my time making the decision since I know I will have them for a long time.

I agree Grace that the square ones are probably a fad. Also, some of the new patterns I saw in the store are not very pretty.

Superstore often has Corelle on half price. I stock up then if I need more...which I sure don't.

I love my Corelle. I have had my set now since 1996 when the army movers lost 3 of my boxes and some of them had my dhishes in it. So I have a full set and a half set. You can find them at yard sales all the time
