Price of Milk?
I'm just curious as to what everyone is paying these days for milk.
I have just started getting my milk from a local dairy farmer and he charges $1.55 1/2 gallon. Of course it's all Pasturized, but none of the other nasty chemicals are in it.
He also sells eggs, potatoes, fresh squeezed orange juice, chocolate milk, bread and cakes. I can actually drink his skim milk since it's not loaded up with powder and water like the milk at the grocery stores.
I just wish he delivered!!

We don't buy milk. Maybe a gallon every two or three months. However, the prices here are $5.35 a gallon and $2.99 a half gallon of Barber's brand. Store brands are not much cheaper - around $4.50 a gallon and $2.50 a half gallon.

Lucky you! I paid around $3.59 or 3.89/gal I think at the convienence store. I usually don't shop there but the regular grocery store isn't much cheaper. Knowing where your products are coming from is so nice. Enjoy!

Here, it is about 4.50 for a gallon, but $2 or less for a half gallon. It's crazy that it is usually cheaper to buy 2 half gallons, than a full gallon.
I've noticed that CVS and Walgreens generally has cheaper milk, and sometimes convenience stores will have gallons for 2.50.

A gallon was just over 6.00 here, but lately has come down. I think last time I bought it was 4. 29. I try to pick it up on clearance at the organic grocery when I can. Then its about 2.70-3.00/gal.

I've been picking up milk at the convenience store here for 2.99 for a gallon of 2 percent. It's cheaper there than the grocery store.

Name brand milk is $5.20 a gallon here. A chain grocery store was having a grand opening special last week and we got milk for $2.48 a gallon. The cheapest regular price for milk is Wal-Mart's store brand which is $3.98 a gallon, at the moment.

A gallon of 1% is $3.76, an gallon of whole milk is $3.81. I have been buying whole milk lately, and diluting it, just to make it go further...the kids didn't notice the difference until they saw me do it yesterday.
