Default I have to stop buying food!

I'm going to have to take stuff OUT of my freezer (rice, stuff like that) and find room in the fridge for it, because I just bought four packs of meat at Winn Dixie. Well, it was BOGO, and I kept the prices within 3 cents of each other, so I really did get a BOGO, and the end price per pound on each was $1.50 (Ground Chuck and 1/3 Quarter Loin pork chops. Well, I guess I'll stick that in there with all the other meat I haven't eaten yet! LOL

The good thing is, I was gonna make some spaghetti sauce to freeze anyway, since I got two jars on BOGO at my store, plus pasta on BOGO.

I also got some great clearance specials! I got two cans each of minced clams and diced water chesnuts for .99 each. They had some baby formula on clearance too, still in date (within 2 weeks of expiration, but you can always refrigerate it to make it last longer). I don't have need for it, but I felt like I should say something, in case anyone has a WD nearby that they can check out. They usually put the clearance stuff in baskets near the packaged meats.

I went to Wally World and bought some stuff too, but nothing I didn't need. I did find an AWESOME buy on GE - CFL's there! 3 bulb packs for $6.97! I got a pack of 40 and a pack of 60 watt. I just read where if you turn them on and off a lot, it shortens their life span. I don't worry about that, because the reason I want to use them is because I'm awful about turning lights off! LOL

I know the feeling. I think I buy more food than I eat. I know it's from insecurity of growing up poor but I really need to get a handle on it.

Yeah, we finally got everything stocked up for winter...so we're overflowing! I'm keeping food purchases to dairy, bread (when I don't have time to bake), frozen chicken, and veggies/fruit. Have all the staples we'll need for about 6 months... Now I just have to make sure I cook from scratch!

I too found some great deals today. At our "new" local grocery (not walmart) I found sirloin pork chops, pork steaks, split fryer breasts, ground beef, and picnic hams all for 99 cents a pound. I racked up on the meat and my freezer is well stocked for a few months.

I read where you said you had to take rice out of your freezer, you are able to freeze rice? cooked or uncooked? That is new to me.

That's exactly why I do it. I never want to be without food in the house, but then I end up throwing it out because I don't eat it and it goes bad. I'm just out of control.

Here in FL, you have to put all grains in the frig to keep the bugs from hatching out in them. I opened a box of Rice-a-Roni the other day, and bugs flew out.

I have been guilty of buying too much. But that is where I am really trying to cut down, is not wasting food. I keep telling myself, If you get a great deal it is not a great deal if you throw it away.So far I have done pretty good on the meat it is the bread and veggies that I am working on now.

I freeze cooked rice all of the time. I make it in big batches and freeze in zippy bags.

Good for you (finding all those goods deals and the stockpile!). I am currently somewhat stocked (the freezer anyways!)- I just noticed that I am running really low on canned vegies- that is not usually the case for me! I guess I better get on the ball with my stockpile! Winter is coming!!!

LOL! We all sound like squirrels putting food away for winter. Actually, this is our growing season, so that really isn't the case with me. I'm just OCD about having enough food in the house, and I can't turn down a bargain.

I have recently become obsessivley compulsive about keeping food too. I'm worried about paying full price for something when if I just get enough on sale, it will last....

I have that disorder as well. I hate having to pay full price for anything! I did without mayonnaise for a long time because I was waiting for a BOGO. Finally had to break down and get some.
