    Thumbs up Turkey deal...

Went to the store last night to pick up a few odds and ends.. Half way through the store I came to the meat section where they advertised "turkey 22 cents a pound with 50 dollar purchase"... I didn't think I had bought that much, so I didn't get one, but once I got to the register I had just over fifty dollars... I got a 18lb or so turkey for 4.00... Pretty good I thought. How are turkey prices around there????

    You found a real bargain!

My favorite local grocery store, Shoprite, offered a free turkey if you spend over $300 between September 30 and November 5. They have good prices & double coupons anyway, so I stocked up on a few things. I lugged home my free 18 lb turkey a few days ago . The price on the tag said .99 lb, but I think that's high. My Mom bought one for .69 lb.

I'm not cooking Thanksgiving dinner, so I'll be stocking up the freezer with cooked turkey, pot pies, and a few other ideas I picked up here!

Here there is one grocery store that has had them .69 lb the past month, a couple weeks ago they had them .19 a pound with $25 purchase. Another store has them .49 lb this week with $35 purchase. I am cooking Thanksgiving and Christmas, always do a ham at Christmas though. I did get 2 turkeys so I can cook one later on this winter.

Momof42003 was your great turkey deal at Winco? I haven't grocery shopped for a couple of weeks and I usually shop Winco and that does sound like their usual Thanksgiving deal. I would also like one for the freezer. Not cooking for Turkey day either.

I normally buy a fresh Honeysuckle White turkey, and usually pay .79-.99/lb. for it, but this year, I'm going to buy the brand Kroger has on sale this week, at .39/lb. with a $10 purchase. We're going to my inlaws for Thanksgiving, so I'll either save the one I buy for Christmas or Easter.

We're getting them for $.49 cents here with store card.
Got my sister 2 at one store and 2 at another.
She has Thanksgiving and her 2 present for the milk tank drivers all done for this year.
We plan on getting 3 more for the freezer.

I think the cheapest I have heard of around here is 59 cents a pound. I'm not cooking the whole dinner, but it's here at my house this year.

I haven't really checked the prices around here but I got a free one because of all the points I racked up buying my grocerie and what-nots. I think it was just a tad over 18lbs and would have been like $15 or something.

Yesterday I went to the grocery store with my fist-full of coupons and my list of things I needed for the house... If ya spend $100 you get a free turkey...

I spent $104.97...got eight bags of groceries and a 20 lb turkey! And in that there were 4 LARGE boxes of powdered milk (what we regularly use for drinking). I am thrilled!! ($13 of that was the make-up I use and $56 of is was the 4 boxes of milk). So, an average of $6/bag for the remaining bags of groceries...not bad...and free turkey and plenty of milk in the pantry is super!

I won't need to get groceries for a couple weeks now!!
