    Default Okay, Change of Plan

Originally, I was going to do the Pantry/Freezer challenge and use it all up and wear it all out in the month of January. However, this coming week, they are having big sales on chicken, pork, and beef at my ShopRite. So, here's the new plan.

In January, I will do my grocery challenge. I hope to spend under $300 for the month, and this amount will include some serious meat stocking up, as well as the usual diapers, fresh fruit, veggies, bread, milk, eggs, etc. Then, once we've got all that meat, February will be a no-buy month, with the exception of diapers, wipes, milk, bread, eggs. This is even more of a challenge because it is birthday month around here. Dd is turning 7 on 2/23, Ds1 is turning 4 on 2/15, and Ds2 is turning 2 on 2/11. So, all party food, etc., will have to come from the pantry. I think we can do it. Then, we'll see where we are at the beginning of March.

Sometimes plans change...gotta roll with the punches and go with the flow!

That sounds like a terrific plan to me. You have to save while you can.

Sounds like a good plan to me too. I would stock up on meat too while it is on sale. Then you will be set for the freezer/pantry challenge in Feb.

I think taht sounds like a far better plan. I am getting some stuff while it is on sale here as well.

One thing I always have to be careful of is not totally blowing the grocery budget when I am stocking up and then continuing to spend regular grocery money afterwards. Do you have that problem ever?

    Karen,
Absolutely...that's something I'm trying to be very aware of. I want to stock up on meats, however, not at the expense of my budget for the month!
