Default January 2: What did you do frugal today

Can I start this? We could note the stuff we do each day to be frugal, no matter how big or how small, since it all adds up (& makes us feel pretty good about ourselves ). I got the idea after seeing the "What's for dinner" threads.

I'll go first : I packed lunches for work (me & dh), and worked 5 hours overtime.

~I cooked dinner from what was in the freezer even though I was tired and wanted to order out.
    ~I stayed home;saved on gas.
~I kept the heat down to 66 until the kids came home at 2:00. Wore a sweater.
~I had bananas that were starting to go and made 2 batches of banana muffins for snacks.

    1 thing of butter
    Big bag of flour
    Jar of cruchy peanut butter
    bisquick mix
    4 bags choc chips(for baking)
    Jar of choc fudge
    bag of powdered sugar
    2 bags of coconut
    Box of rice krispies

She bought all of this stuff to make goodies at Christmas and never made them so she told me to take them

I took a crockpot meal which I desperately wanted to throw away and made a soup out of most of it. I'm going to freeze what I don't eat so I can take it to work for lunch.

    Today I:
~washed two loads of laundry in cold water
~kept the heat turned down to 59*
~lit a fire in the woodstove in the afternoon to keep the furnace from kicking in (it's so cold, the furnace is still kicking in lol)
    ~had leftovers for lunch
~stayed home except for picking the kids up from school
    ~made dinner from the pantry/freezer

-I had some dried beans in the house and I made baked beans out of them. I froze the baked beans in containers so DS will enjoy these for a long time.

-I used a free coupon to get DS a video at the video store.

-I did not do any wash today.

-I was very careful at the grocery store today and only bought things we really needed.

-I checked the price of a product that my DH had bought the other day at the grocery store and found out they overcharged him 80 cents. I got the 80 cents back.

Heldped DH gather some wood so that we can burn it in fireplace insert for the 2008/2009 winter. It has to age 7-8 months before we can use it. We are currently burning wood from cut down trees from a year ago. We burn it on cold nights. It saves on our heating fuel.

Went to Walgreens and used coupons on feminie hygience products on sale. Used four dollars in coupons. Found some candy 75 percent off there.

Ate leftover New Years Dinner for lunch.

I didn't do much! Which is good...saved me money!

~Washed 3 loads of laundry from last week in cold. (we are down to 3 loads a week from 7 loads per week)
~Gave each load an extra spin cycle to shorten drying time.
~Kids and I had leftover soup for lunch.
~Kept the thermostat at 68, even though it was under 10 degrees outside!
~Washed all my dishes by hand, instead of using the dishwasher.
~Drank DH's leftover coffee from this morning, instead of making a fresh pot after I got up.

I'm glad we're doing this thread again. It gives me ideas and reminders.

Today I spent plenty at Bed Bath and Beyond, but I used a coupon for 20% off the entire order, saved $21.60 on things I needed. (Yes, really.)

I bought a heavy fleece wrap/cape on a good sale that is very warm -- it will help me keep the heat down. I'm pretty short on really warm indoor clothing, so this was a great find.

Nothing else -- all I did today was shop. So it's only frugal in that it could have been a lot worse than it was! I'll do better tomorrow.
