What do you think of this?
Not sure if this is the right forum or not....there sure are a lot all of a sudden

Last summer I had a root canal done that cost me $250 oop before a crown. It still hasn't been crowned because the dentist didn't get all of the nerve. Now they're telling me I need to go see a specialist and have it redone. Thankfully we upgraded our insurance so the oop should only be $100, but I don't think I should be responsible for this. The secretary at the dental office told me they would redo the canal there on their dime, but then the dentist doesn't want to redo it herself so now I have to pay. I understand that all medicine is a practice, but they're practicing with my money. I don't know what to do. I've been sitting on this referral for a month. The tooth hurts off and on....enough so to require stronger than tylenol pain meds so I can't just let it go.....but I'm a little upset that I have to pay twice for the same procedure. Is it wrong of me to feel that the dental office should cover the redo?

i think they should cover the redo.. maybe speak with your dentist personally. Sometimes, the staff is trained to keep you away from them.. so they can focus more on the people they are working on at the moment. But I would definately talk to someone..good luck

I agree that the dentist should pay for the retreat if she won't do it herself. Until you get it done, sip on some ginger tea. Ginger is a natural pain killer. I had a failed crown that I couldn't afford to fix right away and it absessed.....the lemon ginger tea I drank helped with the pain more than anything else. I am so sorry that you have to deal with this....dental pain just takes over everything. (((hugs)))

Oh...btw, going up there personally when there is a room full of waiting customers and speaking somewhat loudly (but still polite) about how this is affecting you and how dissapointed you are at their lack of care may help you. They don't want any of those people getting up and leaving out of worry.

You might want to speak with the company benefits rep about this. Depending on the insurance they may be able to help settle this. (Might help to cut out the red tape.)
Yes, your Dentist should be covering the redo. Also, it is difficult to understand what dentist would leave you in pain?
Good luck! Hope you get this straightened out soon! Take care.
