Oh...dh is NOT happy with me..lol
So today, dh decided we needed to talk finances.
So he asks about the LOC, it'll be paid off early Feb. He asked why isn't it done yet? I told him, you didn't work for a month, we didn't get a check mid month, you didn't let me know that would happen so it wasn't planned for. Well, what about the bonus? Ummm... you decided that it was to be spent for Christmas, on the kids. And it paid for groceries for the month you were off. Well, you got all these kids you're watching where's the money going. Umm... let's see, utilities over $400, groceries over $400, sports... fieldtrips. Gas. I gave him $200 cash last week and today another $90... "But i have to put gas in, there was a tournament,...". That's where the money is GOING. Doesn't matter there's a reason, it's not disappearing. IT's being spent some where. I wish it weren't so. So, now he's pouting..lol. He didn't talk to me all afternoon. He seems to be over it now. He didn't like being told he was part of the problem. Let's see, mortgage was $600, insurance $160, he spent $200 and his check was $680 ROFL.. of course it doesn't add up. Part of the problem was a change in pay structure, which messed things up a little, since I only had partial information. BUT I had saved $700 to cover that mortgage payment and partial insurance payment. I didn't tell him that, but just to show him where the money is going. He wants to sit and talk, but then doens't like what he hears, then we have to "be smart and cut back..." uMMM.... what have I been doing??? He's the one that can't wait until next check...
It all smooths out now, that the pay is now regular. The LOC is slotted to be paid off shortly(before a few smaller bills, even, just to calm him down). This week I'm thinking.... $240+550+350 that'll be oever half. Then there'll be $300 every week until paid. Which means early Feb. Then I can take care of the other smaller ones and start tackling the big ones.
He just doesn't see the forest for the trees sometimes.
He's a darling, but let me tell ya... some days.

Chuckle...I've had an interesting time with DH too. I'm doing a detailed analysis of the grocery receipts. meaning I'm going through every item on the receipt and adding up the totals for how much we spend in each food category. DH has been hovering, and shifting feet, and generally acting a bit weird. I didn't catch on till I got half the budget categories covered. Now I'm seeing all the donuts, Reese's pb cups, etc. on the receipts, I'm chuckling to myself. You don't think he might be a bit embarrassed about those?! I can just hear the justifications now!

TRUST ME when I say I completely understand!!!! Dh "wants what he wants" & he says he "doesn't have to have whatever his little heart desires just that it is a better deal in the long run! for example... we have a PRINTER works GREAT just needs a COLOR cartridge & it's perfect haven't had it even 2 yrs & barely have used it.... however he wants the kodak one that prints way better & will save us $$ in the long run.... we just have to come up with the $100-$200 to get the stupid printer in the first place!
& he wants to know where the Xtra $$ goes when we get an overtime check.... hello! we have debt we are trying to pay off & a baby eme fund that we are trying to replace ($3000 b/c $2000 is so that he can adopt my son as his too) where the heck do you THINK its going?! *sigh* But if we don't figure a way to do "this one little request (on top of all the other ones that are made monthly - sometimes weekly)" we will definitely hear about it!
As a single mom I got used to not getting to have what I wanted & now don't miss it really... however he's not quite there yet! He's such a sweetie that works awfully hard to provide... but sometimes I wish he'd cut ME some slack! lol ... we've all been there girlfriend! lol!
KimWaiting is teaching me to lean on Jesus that much harder!!!
Married 5 years to the man of my dreams!
Planning on adopting!!!

Ahhh, don't ya love em? Funny but for a different reason here, hubster has NO CLUE on the bills, finances, heck he doesn't even know how much he gets paid, he's happy with his packed lunch, gas card and a $10.00 bill every few weeks.
BUT
We just discussed his baby brother and his x wife, they ended up bankrupt and losing the house, oh, and divorced BECAUSE brother had NO CLUE on the bills, wifey hadn't paid the mortgage in 6 months by the time he figured it out.
So, here's my hubby saying "how could she get away with that? How could he let her do that?" On and on, I just listened with a smile.
Finally I just looked at him and said "aren't ya glad you married a GOOD woman?" LOLOLOL. Got a sheepish grin out of him and a "yeah, you're right, ya do good" LOL.
Men, gotta love em, eh?

I can totally relate to this....DH didn't have a clue about all of the bills and expenses that we had until he decided to take over the finances last year. I had been trying to do it on my own for YEARS and got very discouraged with us not being on the same page. He had several major panic attacks during the first few months that he took over the finances, I can tell you. For a VERY long time he didn't want to become involved and we just got deeper and deeper into a hole. Things are actually much better now though and now he wants to go into finance as an occupation. I know he will be good at it because he is very good with the numbers and paying things on time.

Oh I understand completely. lol. I've had to actually do up spreadsheets to show dh where the money went or why we don't have the extra this month to pay for whatever he wants.

Ok, I'm gonna go on a limb and say that in our house it's usually the other way around. Not that I spend, just that DH actually writes all the checks, so sometimes I forget and wonder where the money went.
Be gentle with me!
I am getting better!

i can't believe sometimes how fast money leaves the pocket sometimes.. its like as soon as you get it its gone .. least for me.
I am REALLY excited though because we have rented chairs and mower that will soon be paid for and that will be an extra almost $200 a month for us to use on other things. All because Joe had issues with getting couches from Thrift stores ( he had a bad incident where he helped someone move one and when they sat it down in the persons house Roaches fell out of it and went EVERYWHERE not a few a couch FULL of roaches) So we got our living room set from a rent place for $112.. and then a lawn mower because it would end up cheaper over time then paying someone to do our lawn for $78 a month ( then it turned out so dry we only cut the lawn a few times *lol* but the first month we cut the grass 6 X). And they are both insured for 6 months after they are paid off ( fire, water, theft, damage, ect ).
Yet could we have not been better off to just get a couch from goodwill for $50-100 and get a lawnmower somewhere for $100 even though it would be a peice of crap and come out with out spending all this $. Although it was nice when the chairs didn't work when we got them and 3 months later we finally got them to pick them up and fix them and the coffee table which had gotten wiggly. They brought them back cleaned even !!

We have the same situation here. DH wants me to get everything paid, but doesn't want to hear anything about how it is done!

Gotta love them though. I always joke that if I die...DH will either be forced to marry again quickly or hire an accountant to take my place!

Ah.. I see, so for the most part, he's a kept man, and spoiled. Oh well, he'll be fine for a couple months again. then ask again. By then we'll have paid some more things off and he'll be happier, I'd hope..lol

Dh is the same way, the only difference is he grills me regularily about where the money goes...and of course I need to tell him "remember that x-box game you bought last week:$60...the new guitar strings for all of your guitars: $40, the lunches you didn't pack but bought intead: $50" the look on his face when he actually totals it all up: priceless!
Not that I don't spend money, I just tell him what I'm buying and he remembers every penny...lolDebts

We have lots of donuts and PB cup purchases too, that and pop kill my food budget every month. They do all seem to be cut from the same mold don't they?!
