What don't you need to buy this year, or least for months?
Was going through pantry and freezer today, and realized there were many things I don't have to buy for months or maybe the year? What kind of things do you have plenty of?
NOT BUYING THIS YEAR

Christmas

** Tea bags - got many boxes for almost nothing w/coupons
** Hot choc. mix.- got sev. tins & pkgs for holidays
** Flour & sugar - got bunches for $1/bag at local surplus store (store in
freezer)
** Macaroni/spaghetti - got at surplus store (in freezer)
** Grated & chopped zucchini for breads & soups (may grow fewer plants
this year)
** Banana's for bread - bought 2 grocery bags full $1 ea. at surplus (in freezer)
** Salsa, spaghetti sauce, canned tomatoes (from garden) will make more
in the summer
** Pickles - canned bunches (some from zucchini)
** Stock - have probably 30-40 bags in freezer (homemade)
** Baggies - bought 6 boxes for 50 cents ea. in Dec. (will last for a long time
because I wash and re-use
** Turkey - have 4 whole & 5 breasts in freezer (great deals)
** Grape juice - canned from home grown
** Relish - of any sort - canned tons from end of garden surplus
** Yellow squash - halved, blanched and vaccum sealed (from garden) we
love stuffed squash
** Herbs & spices - grown and dry my own herbs. Bought spices in bulk in
Sept. (Keep out what I need - then seal in airtight containers the bal.
and keep in freezer)
** Flavoring extracts - found almost every flavor you can think of at surplus
store for 50 cents a bottle. (I use for homemade ice cream & sweet bread)
I think that's about it. Many other items I won't have to buy for months, due to stock piling when a great bargain.
Give us your lists and what you'll being saving on this year!!!!!

Good thread!
Hmmm.....
Soap--just bought a 12 pack of Ivory
Shampoo--getting my hair cut short soon, and that will really decrease the shampoo usage. DS#2 left a huge bottle in the shower on Christmas break, and I have two more bottles stashed.
Liquid dish soap---got a good deal on 10 bottles of Palmolive.
Carpet soap for my steam cleaner. Hit a sale recently.
Envelopes--a BOGO sale.
Hamburger buns--loads left from Christmas parties in freezer.
Noodles--something else I've been making from scratch.
Toothpaste--dollar store find.
Furniture lemon oil
--long story, LOL.

Actually, we are trying to work everything down so that when and if we move, we won't have as much stuff to pack. But right now we are well blessed with loads of spices, herbs, sauce mix packets, and daVinci bottles of flavorings. I've got enough peanut butter and jelly unless grandkids come this summer. And for some weird reason, I've got more than enough dry milk and Bisquick. I've got enough to feed a small town......

We have tons of HBA items...we're good on soap, deodorant, shampoo and conditioner for probably the rest of the year.
Food-wise, though, we aren't quite as stocked, although we do have 6 jars of Ragu at the moment. We don't have a pantry, just a large cupboard, so we have to make do with what we can fit. Although I have been known to store non-perishables in the laundry closet when I run across a great deal on something!

We did not buy deodorant for DH and I for the whole 2007 year. I am not sure how much more we have left but I hope it lasts until at least June.
We have enough: Laundry detergent, baggies, shampoo, pasta except for spaghetti noodles and frozen vegetables.

Wow, my list is so small compared to everybody else's.
But we are actually in a "use it up, so we don't have to give it away" phase in our move right now.
But, back to what we won't have to buy for a few years:
Beans
Shampoo & Conditioners
See, my list doesn't even compare to everyone else's wonderful stockpiles.
I *cannot* wait to get moved and settled so that I can start building up my stockpile again.

Ever so slowly rebuilding my stockpile...
