Talking Decluttering today - love doing this!!

I was going to post this in the other thread, but thought I would start a new one has the other one is getting long.

Well today has been a day of decluttering (this morning). Will have lunch, quiet time and then will begin on the downstairs!!

    I did:

    - went through summer clothes, those too small put in bag for goodwill. Those that will fit next year I'm putting in storage.

    - went through winter clothes, sweaters, shirts, etc. Those too small went in goodwill bag. Those that fit are all sorted and put away in dresser drawers.

    - went through ds's room - decluttered books, papers, toys. The books and toys went to goodwill. The papers went to recycling. Boy does ds#1 keep lots of scrap papers.

    - went through dd's room. decluttered all scrap pieces of paper and any toys no longer played with. Again, toys went into goodwill bag, papers into recycling bag. I swear those stuffed toys multiply.

Now it is off to do 2 closets upstairs, the bathroom and then the upstairs is all done.

I have a full bag on books and toys and 1 full bag of clothes so far. Can hardly wait to deposit them at the recycling bin here in our small town.

How is everyone else coming along.

I started doing what you are doing a couple nights ago when dh woke me up around 1am so i was up all night putting away summer clothes, bringing out winter ones..and tossing the winter stuff I knew I wouldn't wear ..so now i have a huge bag to go through to decide what to send to goodwill and what is just trash..

I still need to do this in ayla's room, only her old things will be donated somewhere else...or maybe sent to my aunt who just had a baby girl

I finished everything upstairs except the tiny closet. I need dh to trim the door so that it opens properly. Boy does it feel good to get rid of things!!

Tomorrow I'll do the downstairs. Tonight, I'm sewing.

I just dropped off a load of clothes and baby things at a new consignment shop. The old one was too snooty, and when I went there the last time, they told me they're only taking Limited Too clothes-HUH? I decided not to give them my business anymore. They made me feel dirty by bringing them my old clothes. Hello!! I'm here to make you money!

Anyway, I took 23 pieces of clothing, a boppie, a crib mobile, and a pair of boots. The ladies there were so nice. I didn't have an appointment (didn't know) but they took me anyway-they were pleasant, etc. WOW! What a difference. It was worth it to drive a few extra miles to the new place. Have to credit SIL, she told me to go there.

Now I have to get all the jeans together and go back with them. I decided that maybe I can take the 3 old trombones and 1 french horn we have laying around (the good trombone is at church ) and trade them in to the used music store. Then I will use that money to buy DD a high hat cymbal for her drum set, and maybe a stool, depending on what they give me. The trombones are in bad shape, need to be overhauled, but not trashworthy yet. That would certainly free up some space! I'll have to call ahead and get a sitter to watch the baby so I can haul all of these instruments over there. Baby steps.....

I've done the entire kitchen. I am waiting to have money to buy the wood I'll need to make my own potrack. That will free up one cabinet (where the pots and pans are now) and then I can move over my storage containers, etc... to clear that cabinet for my baking corner. YIPPEE!!

I also went through my dd's room. I've got a bag to go to the Salvation Army or Goodwill along with a box of toys from both kids rooms.

Well I have started on my closet. Since dh took over the entire den for his pc room and all my crefts stuff ended up in here, along wiht all our clothes, its quite a sight!
The boys helped last night put a shelf unit up on the closet shelf. Not to figure out what stuff I have that will rarely get used so I can stick it up there where it won't be in my way....
