    Talking A tiny little victory...

You all know about my heat saga. Well, $460 later the furnace is repaired and blowing nice and warm.

I keep thinking about how I paid for it and get a little rush. I only had to take $270 out of my emergency fund, as opposed to the entire amount, because I have been pretty careful with my money lately. When I called my dad to tell him it was fixed, he was concerned and asked if I need some money. I was so happy to be able to say, "No, thanks, Dad, I'm okay!"

I know 38 is a bit old to start this but it sure was nice to not have to have my parents bail me out during a financial disaster! That emergency fund came in handy and I have reformed. There is nothing I could go and purchase that would make me feel as good as this did!

I know this is such a little thing, but I just had to share!

Good for you, Karen! I am sure it felt like such a huge relief to not have to put it off, put it on a CC, or need any help from anyone else. That is awesome!

Proud for you! I seem to be okay now, but I struggled in my early 30s... newly divorced then. I wish I knew then what I know now!

That's wonderful Karen! I'm sure you've taken a great burden off your father's shoulders too. We parents often worry about our children being able to "make it" in the world. Part of that is being able to handle those financial disasters in life. You've shown your dad you are financially responsible, and that can be a great relief to a parent....you'll be okay, even if he isn't there some day to bail you out. Way to go! You done did good!

    This isn't a little thing, it's a big thing.

That furnace has been nickel and diming you to death.

    Congrats.
