Default Do you have flood insurance?

Just curious how many of you have flood insurance and why you chose to get it.

We don't have it here. We live on one of the highest points in South Jersey and it would take quite alot for the Delaware River to flood inland this far. Even with heavy rain, the rain runs downhill away from us.

I couldn't get from the insurance agent... We had to get it from FEMA..... I think everyone can get it there..... They insure people on the Mississippi Delta and in New Orleans...

Nope we don't have it.We live away from water and on a hill ,but here lately I've been wondering about it cause a lot of homes flooded last week in Atlanta(20 miles away)due to lack of dranage.Funny we've been in a drought for 4 years now and now we have too much.

Lori, I lived in Winnipeg, Mb. during the year of the great flood and know exactly what Grand Forks went through.

Yes we have it, it comes with our whole package of house insurance. After going through the flood (although our home wasn't affected in the city), I would want to be without it.

It is just a safety precaution for us!!

We are required to carry flood insurance for our mortgage. We live in the desert and we get rain maybe 3 times a year but we live in a "100 year flood zone" so they make us buy it. Just a gimmick to get more money out of us.

We have it, because our mortgage requires it. It is very expensive, because we are in a flood zone.

We are in S Louisiana & do not have it. Our homeowners ins.
covers damage if the roof etc is damaged & water gets in from
there but not just flood waters rising from outside.

We debate on it & I don't think much about it unfortunately
until times like this.....our mortage co. does not require it,
we are not in a flood zone.

I don't want to think about this subject at this time!
