I like his point and found it very true, but he was kinda nasty!

While I do think that that is a little crude, it is true. There was a story on one of the news shows yesterday where we were suppose to feel sorry for this couple who had gotten into massive house debt. They were saying how aweful it is and that the house situation was killing them and they were 2 months behind on their motgage. Now if I had only heard the story and not actually saw the footage of them all playing pool on their extremely nice pool table that was right behind the extremly nice leather sofa, I might have felt a little sorry for them. But sheesh...the guy is crying because he cannot afford gas for the car.....has it not occured to them to sell the pool table??? They also had 3 grown sons living there and the implication was made that they only occasionally asked them to help with the bills. The segment was suppose to make us see how bad the economy was I guess. But all I saw was people who made BAD financial decisions who got themselves into a mess and are now reaping what is sown.

"for a measly $2.99 coffee and breakfast sandwich, you rip out the credit card because you have no cash (that’s me behind you in line). The concept of buying only those things you can actually afford is foreign to you."

I am so sick of the assumption that everyone who uses a credit card is spending money they don't have. I use my credit card for EVERYTHING and I live well below my means. Of course I wouldn't be paying $2.99 for a coffee and a breakfast sandwich, I would have brought my own from home.

This guy sounds like a massive jerk.

I would like to second this point. I've actually had people comment to me IN the stores while I'm checking out. Yes I ran my card as credit, but guess what? Its my debit card and the money comes directly out of my bank account. I really hate that. Besides, it is none of their business.

But I would also like to say that he is unfortunately right about a lot of Americans.

I really don't like his attitude that he's the ONLY person out there with any money sense or dollars in the bank. He sounds like arrogant jerk to me. I'm a little tired of the *everybody in debt is a an idiot* stance.
And if I pay for my coffee with a DEBIT card, how's he to know...and why is it any of his business? He's obviously buying breakfast too! Gah....blowhard.

What an attitude this guy has. Sure there are some people who do what he says. But he shouldn't pass judgement on people he doesn't even know. I recommend you all e-mail him and give him your opinions. I did!!!! His e-mail is at the top of his story.

I never carry cash as I can't track that spending like I can with a Debit or Credit card. I haven't paid interest on a credit charge in over 5 years. Credit cards aren't the devil. Not paying them off in full every month can lead you into hell.

He is mostly correct but comes across as a major A-hole. I wouldn't be his buddy with his caustic vibe. I do agree everyone has to own up to their own individual situation and not expect the gov't or other tax payers to bail them out. I also blame the mortgage companys for approving these risky loans.

Yes he is certainly full of himself.

I use my debit card as a credit card. For normal purchases I would be making (like my bills, gas at pump, groceries) and I get points-National City does this) for each use. When I hit a certain amount of points I use it to get cash put into my acct. It takes a bit of points to get that $15 but I've done it 3 times. Just for my standard purchases. It's money I would be paying anyway.

I seriously doubt he knew the housing bubble was going to burst 3 yrs ago like he said. Seems a tad arrogant and full of himself to me.
