Cut cable/internet bill from $126 to $66
I called comcast yesterday and told them I was thinking of changing to Direct TV. Direct had more channels than comcast and a similar download speed and were much cheaper. I really had no intention on switching, but I took the advice from others on this board and called to see if I could get my bill lowered. The Comcast rep got a bit defensive, but when I read out the flyer I got from Direct TV she ended up lowering my total bill for internet and cable to $66.00. I am so happy! Its only for 6 months but thats suits me fine, because we will be moving in a few months anyway!
Every dollar counts! Thanks!

That's great! I suggest you call your phone co and ask them to lower your bill as well. They are always running specials and have new plans. I cut mine in half a few months ago. I call the phone co every six months or so.

That's great! I'm always amazed at how often you can get a discount just by asking for it.

* snickers * its amazing how they can suddenly lower the price when your "looking into another company". That makes it seem like they are all really ripping us off..... sad isn't it.

We did the same thing at the beginning of the year. We have the HD service with dual tuner DVR, On-Demand and HBO on top of that. I don't remember how much our bill was but it was a lot. DH called and said he wanted to cut off HBO to lower our bill and the customer service rep. said that she could instead let us keep HBO PLUS add Starz, Encore and Showtime for $30 less than what we had been paying. I'd still LOVE to be able to toss cable out the window and just use Netflix but DH would never go for that.

Yup way to go. Verizon FIOS knocked on my door to tell me how I could save on TV, internet, and phone. After telling the salesman what I paid on each and he totaled it he said no he guessed he couldn't save me money. Which I already knew but figured I could hear him out.

WTG! We pay nothing for internet and cable, but that's just one of the amazing perks of DH's job (since he works for the largest cable company in the area).
