Right Place Right time!!

So last night I decided to do the weekly grocery shopping to get it out of the way. Normally I go to Target or Walmart but it was cold outside and I decided to try Kroger. I heard they were doing alot of 10 for $10 items so I figured I would check it out knowing I could do the real shopping over the weekend if things were too high.

I went with the list of groceries for the week and $100 cash.

WOWSERS!!

I picked up some great deals---everything seemed to be marked down and a lot of what we consider staples was available for $1 or less per item. I quickly made a decision of what we would eat for another week and decided to shop for it all now. ( I am out of town next weekend so that made perfect sense)

I was in the salad dressing aisle when I heard a voice from Heaven---

Dear Kroger Shoppers. 5 lbs of ground beef packages are on sale right now for $2.99. Limited supplies.

WHAT???

FIVE POUNDS OF GROUND BEEF FOR $2.99???

Yes---it was true. This meat had a buy or sell date of March 1 and they were cutting the prices to nothing.

Salad dressing is about 10 feet from where the meat supply was.Right place? Right time?

I quickly walked over and loaded up. I saw other people coming too but there was about 20 packages and I am on a tight budget-- I did not feel guilty at all for picking up 5 packages.

I did the rest of the shopping and had them load up my reusable bags.

I spent $140.63 total ( luckily I had cash for Bean's Rx and some change to use)

I saved $43.34 on store sale items
I saved $25 on ground beef

My freezer and pantry is stocked again. All we will need for next week is milk, fresh fruits and vegetables, and bread.

The ground beef should last a while which means I can cut off $10 a week off the food budget. We are going to try $70 a week for the rest of this month.

Lucky Lucky girl!!

We usually get our ground beef $25 for 15lb tube at the discount salvage supply place in town. Best Price i have been able to find anywhere.
