Credit Card Remedy
This is from the book that we are going to be reading in the Frugal Village Book Club starting Oct. 1. I don't mean to spoil anything for you all, but a little peak won't hurt ya. I thought this was a great tip...
If you absolutely must have a credit card, your best line of offense is to freeze it. Literally. Our newsletter reader Van Sarna recommends freezing credit cards in a block of ice. (Inside a milk carton seems to work well.) She claims a friend of hers carries out this strategy to prevent herself from using it for impulse buying. The thawing time of (at least) 24 hours allows her the opportunity to think over her desired purchase before actually bringing it home.Sherry

I have tried this, and believe me, you can thaw that sucker pretty quick with HOT water! Just leaving the credit card at home helps cut impulse purchases, I think.

i personally probably couldn't wait for it to thaw so i would take the whole block with me and set the whole wet thing on the counter. I wonder if that would work. LOL

I have done this and just thawed it out when I wanted to. LOL! Of course it wasn't in a big jug or anything so I could see it through the ice. I wanted that sucker out pronto! Now, I have no credit card debt except for $100! Yay!

Just to sidetrack things a bit: Cut up ALL your cc's and use your debit card!! Car rental companies, hotels, etc... will almost always take your debit card in place of a credit card.
No monthly fees, no interest, no late charges, either!!!!
