Red face Sitting here feeling guilty....but I have an emergency plan!

because I am the only one home and the tv is on in the other room and I don't want to get up and turn it off because the dog has been ill and is sleeping on my lap.

Can you see my meter going round and round?

Also because I want to go hop in my car and use my PRECIOUS gas ( I am still under 1/4 of a full tank after 12 days meaning I have OVER 3/4 of a tank of gas) to go buy a hamburger when I just went and spent $70 OVER my grocery budget of $200 because our 2 older dds are in town and we needed snacks for our all night all week movie binges.

    Okay.

No I will NOT use my gas.
No, I will eat from the house and not get a burger.

I will get up and turn off the tv WHEN the dog wakes up--he really is very ill.

I will change my grocery budget from $200 to $300 simply because I can't fight food inflation and we have to eat,

I will consider how much money I am saving by spending $70 on foods instead of running kids all over for entertainments and also using my gas.

    Tons of buckets saved!

Okay, I have an emergency plan but I STILL feel guilty about the danged TV!

We all have to feel guilty every once in a while...it's what keeps us on our toes LOL! If you have burger at home, you could make one...it'll probably taste better anyway!!!

I hope your dog is feeling better soon...and I hope you enjoy visiting with your daughters.

I would but every lb of beef I own is earmarked for a meal lol.

It is worse than the army around here but I do have PLENTY of food to eat, I am feeling LAZY is all and LAZY makes us want to do BAD EVIL NON FRUGAL things we regret almost immediatly.

I am sure you all know what I mean.

Besides I can't eat until the dog wakes up anyway!

    Poor poochy

Your poor dog. I hope he's getting better as the day goes on. I think we all need a little down time once in a while. Don't feel quilty, it's ok to just sit for a while and think.

As far as the grocery budget goes I know how you feel. We've been keeping it lower this month, but the menus sure are changing. I think $300 for a family is very frugal.

Movie nights sound fun. I think popcorn and homemade granola bars would be good frugal treats. How about homemade potato skin snacks, just thickly peel your potatoes, brush with some oil and bake. Add some cheese, sliced green onions and a little sour cream for dipping. Of course you will use the rest of the potato for mashing or soup or stew to keep it frugal.

Hope your evil non frugal thoughts go away quickly!

It is hard to stay on track when the dog is ill, it is still winter and everyone is gloomy. But you are doing just fine and you have a good plan. Enjoy the movie night!

The TV being on is negligible in the grand scheme of the monthly electric bill. Don't even worry about it!

Hope your dog recovers. I hate it when the furbabies are sick.

I should clarify I did by meat, sandwich fixins, cheese, milk, and other foods.

The only snacks I got only cost me about$13 as I had made cookies and butterscotch browies earlier.

Sounds like you're doing a fantastically frugal job!! Don't feel too guilty about the TV...your poor lil' friend is sick...let him rest!! The few pennies are worth him having some good sleep!

I agree $300 for a family grocery budget is VERY frugal!! I think you're doing super!! We had to up ours to $250 for just dh and me...things are just SO expensive anymore! And with me not being able to be up and around for 6 weeks that's gonna have to be higher...no frugal scratch cookin' while on crutches...

The movie nights sound like fun to me!! Have a super visit!!

Maybe if you think of it as saving on a potential vet bill by helping the dog get some R&R. I tend to do that with my cats, and lately am spending WAYYY too much time in front of the TV to keep myself off my injured ankle - but it is still cheaper than another doc visit.

Ah well we all have a bad day now and then. Really other than NOT turning off the TV you managed to only think non frugally not too bad if you ask me.
