    Thumbs up MILK PRICES

So as I was doin' my weekly grocery shop yesterday, I noticed that a gallon of whole chocolate milk was 3.99 Last week it was 4.89!

Then I noticed a gallon of whole milk was 3.29!!! Last week it was 4.09!

Now I am not comlaining by any means, but I just keep thinkin' this is a cruel trick and next week milk prices will be 6$ a gallon!!!!

Anyone know why these prices dropped?

Wow, that's a big difference too.

And to answer your question: nope, unfortunately, I haven't seen a drop in price here LOL

    I haven't noticed a change here.

(I am a stay at home mom and don't gas up my vehicle too often, and my hubby's job gives him gas mileage pay, so we're not affted by the gas prices as badly as others are,, but we're affected by the milk prices big time. We go through four gallons a week on a "low" week.)

Milk prices haven't dropped in my area, but they were never up over $4 a gallon either...who knows...maybe the cows are getting happier in California since they shut down that slaughter house !

It's going down at the commissary here ($2.38/gallon skim) and have been for a while but at the regular stores, it's still nearly $4/gallon skim.

My husband works for a dairy and he said the reason milk is dropping is that dry milk storage is getting low. (Storage areas are getting full) so they are no making as much dry milk and have lots of fresh milk. So they have to move the fresh product so they are lowering the price.
Prices will probably drop more when schools let out here is a few months as demand will be even lower.

Where I live milk has been holding at the price of $4.20. I am really envious of you all that is getting milk for under $4.00 a gallon.

Spring is here. Cows are freshing
so there is more milk from th e farms .
Problem is the price of milk is going
down to the farmers, but their bills and fuel is rising which means they will not be able to buy seed corn to plant.
They will not be putting corn in this year.. Seed corn has gone sky high.
Which means milk production will fall and milk prices will go back up in the stores.
Hope this explains it for you

I was throwing out so much sour milk, I started buying nonfat dry milk. It's 5.89/box that makes 2 gal @ Aldi's. I make a quart @ a time & keep it in a glass jar. The gr'kids and myself haven't noticed a "different taste". I'm pleased with it.
