I totally agree with how the things we buy are changing. I can see it in my own kitchen. We have very few snack foods and for the first time ever I have been giving my kids KOOL AID. I make it with half the sugar but still , I don't like it. But at 20cents a pitcher I can't beat the price. We don't eat scrambled eggs anymore, and my hubby drinks his OJ from a much smaller glass. With all my changes I would say that I am not buying anywhere near as much as I used to but I don't see any extra money in my pockets.

I just read that article before signing back in to Frugal Village! It has been true for a very long time. The news stations are just starting to admit that our country is going into a recession...Michigan has been in a recession for quite awhile now. It's such a shame...

Many have known that we are in the third year of a 7-year world-wide famine/food shortage, but its just not something the government wants to open up about because it would do no good. The United Nations says that the middle class may see food rationing within 2-3 years. Most local churches have been reporting the problem and giving instructions on food and water storage.
Flour is a big problem right now because of several issues happening at one time and there is no quick fix.

Very true and I agree that I atleast, have changed the way I shop for things and buy store brands, etc for the cheaper cost, as long as we are eating and are healthy that's what matters.

I wish I could get it for $1.79. I've resorted to the discounted bread, which I take home and immediately freeze. Then I just pull out what I need. Usually it will be either sandwich bread or a specialty bread that I would not be making at home.

The article mentions a family of four spending $904 on food. We'd eat like kings with that budget. Right now I am spending $200 - $250 a month on food for my family of 4.

Very true article. It reminds me of the 70's when
everytime you went into the store the prices had
changed. We payed $2.79 for a loaf of bread this
weekend. That will not happen again." May we never let the things we can’t have or don’t have or shouldn’t have spoil our enjoyment of the things we do have and can have. As we value our happiness, let us not forget it. One of the greatest lessons in life is learning to be happy without the things we cannot or should not have."
