Crock Pot recommendations
Ladies, I need your help. I just dropped my crockpot and of course it broke. I could just cry because I have had this for 16 1/2 years and it worked wonderfully. I liked it because I could remove the crockpot and that made washing it very easy. I have read stories about people getting new crockpots and that cook fast or too hot. Now I am going to have to get a crockpot because I love being able to cook in a crockpot.
I would appreciate any recommendations. I would especially love to have another crockpot that has the removeable crock.
Thanks,
darkchocolate

I have 3 different sizes, all are by Rival. No complaints, definately recommend the brand. The oval-shape is really handy for cooking a whole chicken or large flat brisket.

Can't recommend, but Kohls had one on their website - either 6 or 7 quart for under $20. There are 15 percent off and free shipping codes out there.
I have one this size and love it. I'm making a whole chicken in it tomorrow!Jill

Wal-mart has a great one that is oval and has a locking lid. It also comes out so it can be washed. A friend of mine has one and loves it. I have an oval made by Hamilton Beach that I got at Home Goods and it is excellent and works great. If I get another though I want one with the locking lid so I can use it for church dinners and family reunions.

Was it just the crock part that broke?
If so, you may be able to replace it by going to Rival's site.
If not, good luck! I can only speak for the Rival brand, which I use 2-3 times per week.
A new one would pay for itself pretty quickly, I'd say.

I had the same thing happen and bought a new one, a Rival, and watched as everything stayed at a boil all day long, even on LOW. After some research I found out that Rival increased their temperatures out of "fear" they were not getting hot enough to be "safe."
I went out and bought a Hamilton Beach and have been very happy with it.
If you are used to the true "slow cooking" of your original crockpot, you may want to research this, or try to find a replacement pot to keep your old one going.
