You can substitute pork for just about any ground meat, but I've found that it is way bland.
I usually cut my ground pork with something else. For a recipe that calls for 1 pound, I'll use 1/2 a pound of ground pork and half a pound of the ground meat it calls for.

I use it JUST like ground beef.
Several years ago in Iowa, when the hog industry was in the tank, there wa a grocery store that offered it for .49 a pound.....there was a line around the outside of the store for that price!!!
I bought hundreds of pounds that week.....lasted for years. Yep, used it just like ground beef in everything.

I just bought several pounds on sale and was wondering the same thing. I'm planning on using it in hot dishes. Also, in meat loaf with ground beef.

I'd use it for the same that you'd use ground beef or turkey for, spaghetti, burgers, meatloaf, casseroles, sloppy joes! Anything you use ground beef for, you can use that for too!
I have a bunch of ground goat and just did a meatleaf the other night with it, it was yummy!!

I often buy it because it seems to be always cheaper than ground beef, I do think it is a little bland compared to ground beef, but I also use it just like ground beef. In my Lasagna, Taco's, sloppy joes, casseroles, sausage patties (for egg & sausage biscuits). The only thing I don't use it for is when I'm making burgers. Everything else has other flavoring in the recipes and I find you really can't tell the difference, I have never mentioned anything to the kids and they have never asked about it.

Like the others, I use it as I would ground beef. But, sometimes depending on the dish it can be a little bland and you may be able to taste the difference. However it is absolutely delicious used in any mexican and italian dish, and in chili.

If you don't like it in regular recipes turn it into sausage! You can buy sausage seasoning in the spice dept. at the store. Just start off using a small amount. Mix it into the pork. Then make a very small patty and fry it and see if it's enough seasoning. Experiment until you get it right. Then you will know how much to use per pound after that. I personally LOVE homemade sausage! I love to make the patties big like hamburgers and eat them on buns! YUM

I use it in egg rolls, spaghetti, chili, meatballs. Anything that calls for ground beef. I usually use part ground beef, part ground pork. The kind of pork I have has alot more flavor than just regular ground beef, but it is italian ground pork in links and I just squeeze it out of casings. DH thinks pork is a little rich, so I always use half beef half pork.
