Default Adventures in Pie Making (Wasting Nothing)

I had 3lbs of blackberries that had been in the freezer all summer. I finally got around to making a pie this evening..... and a little more. ( I have to make big pies in a 13X9 cake pan for my large family)
I had to drain all of the juice that I could after the berries thawed - with that juice, I made blackberry wine. After adding sugar to the berries, I let the mixture set while I made the pie crust. Going back to the berries, I saw that I had to drain them again..lol so that juice went up in the freezer for more wine for another time. With the scraps left over from the pie crusts, I made dog treats for our 2 huskies....& with the little bit of flour that was left from rolling out the crust dough went into the compost heap for our garden.

Good job on using every little bit!

We made jam out of our batch of last year's berries.
