Ellise posted some awhile ago here:
    Syrup recipes

I haven't tried any of them though.

Thanks Heather, Darlene and Sara. Finally I did something that looks like what you posted...I used 1 1/2 cup of brown sugar, 1 cup of water, but no butter or salt...maybe next time I will try that.

Elise sure does have a very good variety of syrups! They look so good!

I have used this one for years, it is from the Company's Coming Cookbook by Jean Pare. It is a thinner syrup than you buy in the store but we are used to that now.

    Pancake Syrup

    3 cups water
    3 cups white sugar
    3 cups brown sugar
    1 cup corn syrup

1 Tablespoon lemon juice, fresh or bottled
    1 Tablespoon vanilla
    1 Tablespoon maple flavouring

Combine first 4 ingredients in large saucepan. Stir on medium-high until it boils.

Add lemon juice, vanilla and maple flavouring. Stir. Fill hot sterilized bottles/jars to within 1/4 inch of top. Seal. Yummy!!

I bought a product called MAPLEINE (imitation maple flavor). I can't remember how much it cost, not too much, and it has lasted a really long time. It's pretty good when served nice and warm.

I wish I had seen that blueberry syrup recipe before I used up all my blueberries from our picking expedition.
