    Default Leftover ham ideas

I've got mine in the freezer at least part of it and will make ham and beans with corn bread.

Can't you tell my husband is a Southern boy??

I was going to use some to make ham salad sandwiches, and I was going to use the bone and the rest of the meat for Pea Soup. Yummy!!

I wish I had some leftover We went to dh's grandmother's for dinner. If I did have some left I would just eat another ham dinner (LOVE ham!) and then make some ham salad. It's been a long time since I had any of that.

    Question Leftover Ham

Any suggestions for meals to make with all this leftover Easter Ham? We had quite a bunch over so I had to make two large hams, and now have lots left over. Can you freeze it? Any recipes? Thanks.

I freeze ham all the time. I slice some into ham steaks, others into thin sandwich slices and dice some up for casseroles and to put in potato soup.

    Ideas for using it:
    Ham, cheese and potato soup
    Ham, brocolli, rice casserole
    Ham Salad for sandwiches
    Ham, vegi, noodle soup
    Ham and bean soup
    Ham and potato salad
    Scalloped potatoes and ham
    Ham balls
Green salad with ham and cheese chunks in it
    Ham, cheese and pasta salad
    Macaroni and cheese with ham
    Fried ham and eggs
    Ham and cheese quiche
    Oriental coleslaw with diced ham

I used some tonight-Bowtie pasta, ham, spinach, olive oil, garlic and parmesian cheese. Yummy and quick. The rest will be sandwiches and omlettes.

Nice list Debbie. We're having split pea soup with ham for dinner toight.
I like to package mine (& freeze) into 8 oz. pkgs of cubes to use in casseroles & egg dishes.

I was more excited about making ham salad than I was about having the original ham! Here's my recipe:

Amy's Ham & Cheese Salad Sandwich Spread

    2 cups chopped cooked ham
    2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
1/2 cup mayonnaise (or more, to taste)
    1 tablespoon prepared mustard
    bread or crackers for serving

Combine all ingredients in a food processor and pulse until blended. You may need to stir a little more by hand to make sure that the mayo and mustard are blended in thoroughly.
    Serve on bread or crackers.

I wish I could find my recipe, but I'll just give you the general idea.

Cooked spaghetti. White sauce with garlic & parmesan & mozerella. Maybe some peppers & black olives & broccoli.

Mix it all together with cubed ham & serve hot.....ooooooo or cold, too.

I *made* this once from a recipe, but I can't find it. It was good.

DH likes fried potatoes with ham. I don't make fried potatoes very often anymore since he has to watch his cholesterol though
