    Smile Budget Chewy Peanut Butter Bars

    1/2 cup butter/margarine
    1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
    1 1/2 cups sugar
    1 cup all-purpose flour
    2 eggs, beaten
    1 teaspoon vanilla extract

    Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a large saucepan, melt butter and peanut butter. Remove from heat. Add sugar and flour. Stir in eggs and vanilla. Spread into a greased and floured 13" by 9" pan. Bake for 28-32 minutes or until lightly browned and edges start to pull away from sides of pan.
    Yield: 2 dozen bars.

    ~These are yummy! DD just ate four.
    I reduced the sugar to 1 cup so all the ingredients cost me $1. I cut the bars into 24 cookie sized pieces so about $.04-.05 per cookie bar.
    I especially like that these take just 4 minutes to prepare!~

    Yeah, I can't wait to hear what they are like! I have a friend who is allergic to chocolate, but loves that brownie texture. If these are brownieish, they would be perfect for her!

    I'm wondering if I can cut the margarine and sub some applesauce to cut some of the fat, or does that sound gross with the peanut butter? I'd also have to cut the sugar.
