what to do with leftover syrup from canned fruit?
Looking for ideas to use this vs. tossing it down the drain.

My guy Michael absolutely loves those juices. He watches until I drain the can and then he drinks them. At least it doesn't get thrown down the drain.

when you have left over juice, make a fruit flavored icing. You can freeze it for when you ned it to drizzle on pies or cakes.
1 lb powdered sugar in a mixer bowl, drizzle in juice from a can until you get a thick icing, if you like your icing more runny, add more juice or water, a little at a time.
I have some frozen for cherry pies I premade and froze. Used the sauce from the can to flavor the icing, they kids practically crawled up my legs to get at the beaters I held over my head. Warning...this is a huge sugar surge.~~ Missy ~~

I use it as the "water" portion for jello. Sometime I have to add water to equal the amount called for, but it adds flavor to the jello (especially if using unflavored gelatin).

I also saved and canned the leftover peach juice last summer to use for this also.

Thanks everyone. Zachary likes the peach juice syrup and drinks that, but I often have juice from other canned fruit and I usually just drain it off and kept thinking that there must be some ways I could use it. The jello and icing are great ideas. We eat both here.

I use it to replace the liquid I would put in muffins or small cakes. I also reduce the sugar to my recipe when I do this, because the syrup is already very sweet. It works very well and makes nice muffins and small cakes.

Excellent ideas! Here it usually gets drank (by me). I especially like the idea of using it in muffins. Yum!

I use it in jello too. I just thought of freezing it and using it for ice cubes in drinks, like maybe a punch bowl or for speed setting jello when you don't add fruit to it..

It depends on if it's juice or syrup......
You can warm the syrup (or juice) in a small sauce pan.
Add a bit of water and corn startch and make a fruity pancake / waffle syrup....... good on ice cream too !!!!!!!
Won't keep more than a day or too though........
