    Default Indian Food

So, I just discovered Indian food. A woman I work with is of Indian (via Pakistan) descent. Whenever we have a potluck, she brings Indian food. It is pretty cheap for all the dals and such. I just love chole. I also like samosas and I am sure I will like tons of other spicey Vegetarian Indian foods.

Do you eat Indian food? Do you make it? I had most of the ingredients to make chole on hand, and it is SO inexpensive. I don't have the chat (chan) masala, but I improvised with it- I didn't have any ampura, I think it is called (mango powder) but I had the rest. It is really filling, and even using cannd beans instead of the cheaper dried, it cost me less than $1 for the whole dish, including guesses on how much it cost for a teaspoon of this or that from my pantry.

Yum!! I just ordered up some Indian cookbooks from my library.

I've never made it, but used to go out once a week to an Indian restaurant with a vegetarian friend of mine. I love how aromatic the food is, but it's not always too appetizing to look at.

I LOVE Indian food, especially the vegetable curries and samosas. I don't cook it much, although I do have an Indian cookbook, but we do have a vegie curry a couple of times a month.

I don't really know anyone else who eats it (aside from the woman I work with and her family.) There is an Indian restaurant about 20 miles from here, though. DH took DD there with some of his frinds a month or two ago. He (Mr. Picky-eater himself) actually found some food he liked. DD ate some food, too, and the owner of the place loved her. They gave her free mango sorbet.

I think maybe I will have to get him to go there again. We hardly ever go out to eat, but I think we should go there- it will be fun.

I *LOVE* Indian food. Unfortunately there are NO Indian restaurants anywhere near here...but when we lived in California there were a few in our town. One was a buffet!!!

Every time I get sick with a cold I wish we had an Indian restaurant. In California I used to get an order of chicken curry/extra hot every time I was getting a cold, and I would just immediately feel better. I don't know if it was the combination of spices or what that they used but it just took any illness right out of me. Better and cheaper than going to the doctor LOL!

I also like samosa, and sag paneer. I LOVE tandoori chicken! Actually there are not many Indian dishes that I don't like. If you ever run across a place that sells Indian candies, you just have to try them--but be warned that they are extremely sweet and rich!
