Favourite cheap but fast meal
What are your favourite last minute and very inexpensive meals?
I need ideas, at this time a year when there are so many demands on our time, gardening, children activities, it is hard to find the time to make chillis etc from scratch. So what do you rely on?
Ours are spaghetti, and sandwiches and soup.
When it is very hot salads and sandwiches.
What are yours?

Breakfast for supper!
For the three of us
6 eggs .45
5 toast .30
1/2 lb bacon .99
Pancakes/w butter and syrup 1.00
-------
2.74
Not bad seeing that theese are high estimates. Total prep time 15 min. Cooking time 15 min. Half hour meal... fast cheap and easy and the boy loves it when we do this.

Something out of the freezer. I don't do OAMC, but I make extra when I do cook from scratch and freeze chilli, HM chicken noodle soup and add grilled cheese.
Spaghetti is by far our fall back on meal when we are out of time/ideas.

Great ideas!
I am finding cheese is very pricey right now! But eggs are cheap. So tonight we had fried eggs and tomatoe sandwiches with left over potato chowder. If I didn't have left overs I would have opened a can of soup.

Grilled cheese and soup. Or since my son won't eat cheese except on pizza I fix him a "toad in a hole" which is a piece of bread with a hole cut in the middle and an egg fried in the hole.

We just had one of our most frugal meals. Macaroni & tomatoes with a salad on the side. It's just elbows, whole tomatoes smooshed, butter, s&p, oregano and parmesain cheese. Simple & easy & inexpensive.
In season fresh tomatoes & some basil & you're in heaven

Right now, I'd have to say eggs and toast.
