    Default Ranch Oyster Crackers

As I'm sure you've all probably noticed in my sig, I am going on vacation next week. I'm trying to make up some snacks for my family (as well as my sisters' families- we always share) to take to the beach.

I just made up these crackers and they are a hit with my daughter. They aren't SUPER healthy, but they aren't as bad as flavored crackers from the store, because you can decided what gets added. Salt? MSG? Hydorgenated trans-fats? It is completely up to you. I think this must be cheaper than buying them, too., and it only takes a few minutes to mix up.

FYI, I only made half a recipe and used only 1/3 c oil (canola) but kept the whole tablespoon (*enough for a whole batch) of ranch seasoning (which I made myself, recipe follows.) I had everything in my pantry except the onion powder, so I picked an onion from my garden ad dried it in the micro.

I got this from the kids snack link posted here the other day. (Thanks QuilterMom.)

And I made my own ranch mix. Here is the recipe:

Took about 10 minutes to mix up the seasoning and make the crackers.

I make these a lot too. I have even used regular saltines to make them, they were cheap and good. I put my crackers in a gallon jar and pour my oil/seasoning mix on them and then roll the jar back and forth to completely coat the coat the crackers. I let them set in the jar for a few days and shake or roll the jar a few times a day. They are do good and so much cheaper than store bought.
